Sexy at 39!
Bhagyashree is approaching 40 but that hasn't stopped her from sexing up her image, reports Prithwish Ganguly
Agreed that the word 'sexy' is not often used in the same context as a woman aged 40. Notwithstanding the saying that 'life begins at 40', the fact remains that it's also an age when many tend to look back rather than the road ahead.
But here is one woman who's swimming against the tide.
She is touching 40 and she has done something which very few 40-year-old women would dare to do — Bhagyashree has undergone a 'sexy make-over'.
"I wanted to do something for fun. I guess my trip to Hrishikesh has a major role to play in my decision. I did some adventure sports there. I felt the adrenaline rush and I told myself, if now I can do all this, why can't I do something else? It was then, this makeover crossed my mind," Bhagyashree says.
After that decision, came the bold decision. The actor took help from a friend to shed her inhibitions for the makeover. She adds, "I had this thought in the back of my head for long but this time it was time for some action. It was not very hard to shed my inhibitions. It's a new me now. I'm thankful to my friend Nisha Sagar for styling and designing the outfits that are making me look really sexy."
Bhagyashree says she does mind playing the seductress as long as the interpretation is aesthetic, "I don't mind being called the seductress. I think I'm very confident to pull this new me. The fact that I'm getting all these compliments is because I think I'm not putting up an act, it's all coming from within me. I'm feeling good to do this new thing. It's really lots of fun."
And how are the compliments flying in?
"I have got many messages. Some are as short as 'ouch' and some read like 'you have made us lose our minds'," she adds.
We couldn't resist ourselves from asking whether her marriage was the stumbling block for her career and whether she is now rectifying her mistakes.
"I'm not thinking about the past. My priorities were very different then and now my priorities are totally different. I had many responsibilities then which I have taken good care of. Now I want to begin fresh, start from where I left. You can call this a sort of a comeback," she remarks.
But with her touching 40, is she confident that she can give other actors a run for their money?
"It is never too late when you are looking forward. I'm going to enjoy my journey ahead. Fortunately, cinema is changing in India. There is scope for everyone now. I would ask the filmmakers to give me opportunities. When I was married, the industry was not open to have married women as heroines, but now people are more open to new ideas," she ends.
