'I don't want to be drab 'like Tulsi, Prerna or Parvati ...says television actress Resshmi Ghosh who's all set to take a 'reality' bite AKASH WADHWA
SHE may look touch-me-not, full of attitude and an arrogant girl but appearances are deceptive. The girl is completely opposite in real life. She is not only a sweetheart in her tone but also knows how to keep promises. She called us exactly at the appointed time that she had promised. Well, we are talking about Resshmi Ghosh aka Bhoomi of Kyunkii Saas...for whom the glamour industry happened purely 'by chance.' Telling us about her journey in the industry Re s s h m i a d d s, 'Since I belong to a decent service class family, this glamour industry was a complete 'No-No' to my father. Whatever I am today is 'coz of my mother. She wanted to become an actress one day but couldn't because of dad's unwillingness. She is the one who fought with him for my career. My mom is living her dream through me.'
Not many know that Resshmi has done quite a number of films but to her bad luck none got released. 'I think I'm jinxed for movies. Every movie that I did went into the holdover due to some reason or the other. I'm so scared of this jinxed part that inspite of lead roles coming my way recently, I'm not even thinking about them.' Is this the reason why she chose television over Bollywood. 'Yes. What else can the reason be? I know being Miss India-Earth, people expect me to either do films and if not then sit back at home but I don't belong to such a category. Since I'm a trained theatre actor, I preferred to opt for television than sit at home like other pageant winners who have no work.'
Talking about her career graph, Resshmi has no regrets when it comes to portraying a negative shade in each of her characters. 'I don't want to be drab in my acting style like Tulsi, Prerna or Parvati. I think I'm an excellent actress and more versatile than any of the mentioned ladies.'
Another similarity that one notices in all her characters is her classy looks and oomph. 'Ekta has always wanted me to look the way I'm in my serials from the very first day. And that is the reason why all my characters have been from well-to-do and elite families.'
Will she be able to spell her magic over the loverboy of the small-screen ' Shabbir Ahluwalia, since she is now paired opposite him in Kayamat? 'I'm the best,' avers Resshmi adding, 'The audience should just wait and watch for how rocking our chemistry will be on-screen.'
Like many of the other TV actors, Resshmi too equally excited about her first dance reality show ' Bollywood Ka Ticket but the lady confesses that she is still not used to such hectic schedules. 'Although I love dancing and enjoy it a lot, I'm not able to cope with the shooting hours.'
Is that the reason why you fainted twice on the sets, Resshmi? 'Not exactly. I fainted because of the kind of food that we are given. It is hopeless.' So it wasn't the 'Slapstick Comedy' that made you unconscious? 'No way! I hate such cheapness. I'm from a good background and don't enjoy such childish attitude of the contestants.' Was that a public gimmick? 'Yes, I think so. All reality shows are scripted these days. And what's the harm in scripting them till the time the show is earning the channel TRPs (and some good money)?'
