Hi!

Well, on Friday, I went with my husband and we watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. And I must say, I was happy, yet disappointed! The reasons for my mixed feelings are as follows:

  • What is a Harry Potter movie without the Dursley's! They never even showed that whole part, where the Weasley's travel through the Floo Network and enter in their house, and they didn't show the part where Dudley eats Fred and George's ton tongue candies. That whole scene was missed, and that was really funny. I think they should've included that in the movie.
  • I didn't like how they just skipped the Quidditch match. That would've been an interesting scene.
  • The whole scene where the Death Eaters are destroying the camp site of the World Cup is changed. When Barty Crouch Jr. lights the Dark Mark, Harry is blamed for it because of his wand. But it was totally different.
  • When Harry goes into the Pensieve, there are more trials, but he only sees one in the movie.
  • They barely made Fleur Delacor talk. She had barely any role in the movie, yet in the book she talks quite a bit.
  • When Hagrid shows Harry the dragons, one of Ron's brother's is there (I can't remember which one, Bill or Charles). But anyway, they should've been included too. It would've at least made an introduction to his character.
  • I saw someone writing that they saw a beetle. Where was the beetle? Rita Skeeter is an animagus. I didn't see any beetle.
  • Sirius just had no role in this movie. He only came in the part where his head appears in the fire. I remember in the book Harry writes to Sirius so many times, telling him also to call him Snuffles, and he was telling him what to do and stuff. The next movie is the last one he's in, we barely get to see him.
  • Cho didn't have any significant role in this movie either. Neither was Harry daydreaming about her. It didn't even come to our minds that he liked her.
  • In the book, they showed Lord Voldemort talking to all the Death Eaters, but in the movie they only showed Lucius Malfoy. They never even showed the other Death Eaters properly.
  • I think Mad Eye Moody should've been more beat up on his face. He didn't have enough scars on his face to be Mad Eye Moody. And his leg was supposed to clunk?
  • There was a part where Harry was out of his bed, and he was under his cloak. Mad Eye Moody could see him. They never showed that part. They never really showed anything significant to his eye. They never explained how it could see through things and all it's different abilities. They only showed that he could see from the back of his head.

There are many other points, in which I was thinking about last night when I was about to sleep, but I can't seem to remember them all. If I do, I will surely post. The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book was my most favorite book. And I think that I might've been expecting so much from this movie, that I was slightly disappointed. I think that the first three books did better, and I think I know the reason why. The reason is because the first three books were very small. The fourth book was the first big book. It was impossible to cover each and every detail. In my opinion, if they made two movies, it would've been better. Then they could've covered all the important parts, and technically would've made more money out of it and would've perhaps made the audience much happier.

Please comment. Give me your arguments. Tell me where I'm wrong and where I'm right.

I agree that they should've showed more of the Quidditch match~! That would've been cool to see. 😎

It's been a really LONG time since I've read the book so I don't remember much of the details but I did notice that the scene with the Death Eaters destorying the camp site of the World Cup was missing something~!

Also if I remember correctly wasn't Fleur suppose to be a snob? ❓ In the movie she was the complete opposite. She appeared to be rather nice.

Plus, they forgot to show when the Triwizard champions families come to Hogwarts for the final task, Mrs. Weasley and her oldest son Bill come to see Harry. Harry see's Fleur checking Bill out over her parents shoulders.

I don't know how they'll tie in Fluer & Bill's relationship together in the next movie(s). ^.^'

Yea Cho didn't have much of a role nor did they show Harry really falling for her. My memory is very vague 🤔 but didn't they see eachother when they were playing Quidditch or something? Wasn't that when Harry started to notice & like her or something? ❓

And what was really dissapointing was that MALFOY aka Tom Felton was barely shown in the film! 😡 I wanted to see the scene where he looks at Hermione at the Yule Ball! Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he in "awe" when he saw her?

⭐️ My views of the movie is that I think the movie had a weak beginning & ending. Like in the beginning Harry wakes up and he's at World Cup suddenly. My brother didn't know what was going on (he doesn't read the books) so I had to explain to him where they were at and what was going on.

Now the ending I didn't understand what Dumbledore was talking about?!! Yea I was a little confused when he said "You have to choose what is right and what is easy" or something like that~! That was soo confusing!

I think this movie lacked what all the other 3 movies had because I dunno all the other 3 Harry Potter movies had that MAGICAL feel to it or something when I watched it. Harry Potter and the Gobelt of Fire didn't really have that same magical "feel". It's hard to explain but like when I was reading the book I pictured the Yule Ball to be y'know very extravagant and elegant but it actually turned out being some regular kind of TEEN party~! Plus Hermione's dress was suppose to be BLUE. 😔

But I did like how the director mangaed to capture all the character's adolescence. I mean they're teenagers now and he made that pretty clear to everyone.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was definately my favorite Harry Potter book~! I can't say I'm not satisfied with the movie because it was GREAT~! All the action in the Triwizard Tournament was amazing and the jokes were all really funny.

Too bad the movie couldn't be longer! ^^

I really enjoyed reading your views |iami5o4| ...and I for those who are saying that the movie couldn't cover all the details or else it would be really long...I did mention that...and I understand that...so there's no need for that to be said over and over again!!!! Ok...calm down...anyway...😆...I feel the same way as u do |iami5o4|!

Thank god Mira Nair is not directing HP. I don't think she has the talent or skill to bring alive the depth of the book on celluloid.

I truly don't mind sitting thru a 4 hour long HP movie if it goes thru all aspects of the book... Even 2 parts closly following each other is welcome..

😛

Yeah too bad GoF missed so many fun elements from the book...

Yeah I wanted to see that too😭

They cut all the S.P.E.W part out too😭😭 That was one of the major things in the book.

hey all. i LOVED the movie!!.. i thought it was amazing.. i mean to manage the entire novel into a movie in itself is a challene.. and i think the director carried it off very well!

i loved the ball scene!.. only thing.. i though they could have had our INDIANS wearing something a bit nicer.. lol.. but i loved it !

it would have been very interesting to have mira nair direct the 5th movie!!.. oh well...

looking forward to the 7th book & 5th movie!
