If the latest fashion trends are anything to go by, skinny bottoms, layered tops, curly manes kept in place with bright-coloured tick-tocks and jazzy hair bands are the order of the day. Of course there are no points for guessing who has inspired the trend; Aditi aka Genelia from Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na.
But for a change, it is not just teenagers but also our very own sexy diva Mallika who seems inspired by Aditi's style statements. For those who have seen Ugly Aur Pagli, the resemblance is obvious. For those who haven't, we list Mallika aka Kuhu's three style statements that leave little room for doubt as to who's inspired them.
Inspired element no. 1
Sporting big curls with jazzy hair bands and bright tick-tock hair clips

Skinny leggings in neutral tones that draw attention to those well-toned tangdis

Vests worn over contrast-coloured T-shirts
And if you thought all these factors are mere co-incidence, the fact that the two shared a common fashion designer should make things fall into place. When contacted about his take on the controversy, designer Ashley Rebello clarified, "There are several differences between Aditi and Kuhu's styling even though they might have come across as subtle to the common eye. To list down a few, Genelia sported a far more casual look than Mallika. Not just that, but Genelia's outfits were also more bright and vibrant in appeal compared to Mallika's."
So while Ashley may have his share of reasons to believe that both his heroines sported a distinct look, the pictures clearly convey a story. After all, it isn't for no reasons that people say one picture can convey what would otherwise require 1,000 words.
