If choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant was 'failao-ing raita' on a dance show as the ultimate compliment, choreographer and judge Ganesh Hegde has been comparing contestant improvements to a rice plate versus biryani treat on Kabhi kabhii…etc, etc…
You think it's funny; I think he needs some serious counselling on a career change as reality TV hits another predictable, unimaginative nadir! The format, for instance, of having a TV actor do two dancing acts (not again) one with wife/husband or girlfriend / boy-friend and another with an 'uncommon' friend (how imaginative?) with judges rating the unleashed chemistry is nothing beyond a silly excuse to showcase another dance show with the same old faces and the same old comments.
Bad dancers Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan once again face the umbrage of uncharitable judge comments; this time with the garrulous Mahesh Bhatt, known to call a spade a complete digging kit, at the giving end. Anyone with an iota of self-worth would desist from such repeated insults of their abilities on national TV. Hopefully going by Pradhan's distasteful care-a-damn look prior to their exit in the show's latest episode, the couple with two left-feet will finally take a bow from any future dancing misadventure. I though liked Pradhan's strong rebuff of the judges' empty speak on competitive spirit et al (these are no Olympic games) and her valid criticism of its even more vacuous format.
As regards the rest of the contestants - Kashmera Shah and Krishna keep gathering accolades in their umpteenth dance outing to the same pelvic thrusts and tear-bursts, while Manoj, who became Karanveer or Karanarjun or whatever Vohra, seems to be busy making an impression more out of his cleavage shows than grooving toes. And the tale of woefully choreographed drill dances set to the same few dance numbers - new and old - continues. Please give us Chitrahaar instead!
While Sameera Reddy downs the judging table's glam quotient with weird hairdos, Hegde ups its employment quotient with dancing offers to all and sundry in his next album, as and when it's made with whoever interested in watching it. I mentioned their names as the show's 'cast' in the beginning because forget their judging rationale (their points invariably always match) they seem to be the show's lone drivers of the drama quotient with their frequent and almost opposite evaluations of a dance act. If Bhatt likes a performance, Hegde has to find fault in it and vice-versa, with Reddy in the middle stating a summary average of comments.
Verdict: A "me-too" dance show with predictable performers, performances and judge acts.
