| The desi Kumars: Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal, Sanjeev Vatsa, Bakhtyar Irani, Delnaz Paul in Batliwalla House No 43 | The Batliwalla House No 43 is a show about a quirky Parsi family called Batliwallas who host a chat show with a difference.
The family, that runs a bakery by day, has converted their worker's toilet area into a wacky makeshift studio. This half-hour show will air on Sony, every Friday, from February 25.
The protagonist of the show is the star-struck son Shahrukh Batliwalla (played by Bakhtyar Irani) who is convinced that his chat show is his ticket to stardom.
He is aided by his overly enthusiatic family comprising his father, Jamshed Batliwalla (Sanjeev Vatsa), his mother Gulshan (Delnaz Paul) and grandmother Meherbanoo (Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal).
Jamnadas Majethia and Aatish Kapadia, producers and creative directors, Hats Off Productions, say, "Batliwalla House No 43 is a cross between a chat show and a sitcom which delves into the idiosyncrasies of the guest and the Parsi hosts."
Kotwal, a veteran theatre personality, makes her mark in the television world with this serial. Her plays include The Vagina Monologues and Shirley Valentine.
Vatsa, also a theatre person, had earlier done a few serials like Achanak and Tujpe Dil Qurbaan.
While Paul, who is best remembered as Sweety from the film Kal Ho Na Ho, dabbles in TV, films and theatre (Paying Guest). Irani (who happens to be Paul's brother) makes his TV debut. |
