Hey this is off topic, but I've always wondered:

A lot of Hindi speaking actors go South to make movies, not to mention other parts of India to do regional cinema. Punjabi, Malayam, Marathi, Tamil and Bengali are a few languages that appear to be very popular these days.

Even actors who aren't familiar with Hindi as a first language regularly "go South" to test their fortunes.

Is everyone being dubbed over? Apparently it's quite common for a newcomer to make their foray into the glamour world by doing regional cinema, which pays well and is highly respected, but do they fake the dialogue through shooting to have a skilled artist dub over their entire parts?

I know this also happens in Hindi cinema, I just think it's wierd...how do they understand their scripts? emote? I can't just go blah, blah, blah and hope I react to the right stuff...šŸ˜•

I'm very confused, someone please clear this debate for me!

Thanks Buff! šŸ˜›

I still don't understand how they perform without understanding the language or the pronounciation...it must throw off the other actors! šŸ˜†

well they do perform as acting crosses all boundaries...have u see aish perform in kandukondein kandukondein even tabu in the same movie....
simran a punjabi performs excellently ....even jyothika(nagma's sister)..they struggle in 1-2 movies and then they do well
as for being fat...being a south indian and a tamilian ...and having watched so many movies.....i knwo that south do not emphasise on looks that much compared to bollywood.....b'wood is all abt glamour and not performance.....
south indian movies mostly concentrate on performnace and not glamour and yes that one girl dubs for most heroines and she is very good too ...i think her name is savitha or something not sure
i do like both hindi and tamil movies but quality and performance wise...tamil/malayalam movies any time
no offense...my personal opinion
