i'm weary, i'm wrung out, and i hate prem. i do. seriously. i know there was an episode today. there were some terrific moments. but all i can remember is ... oh, i so hate prem.
fight, estee, fight to remember. here's what i think happened:
* big thing: no matter what high-pitched octane drama that laluchacha tried, prem doesn't waver from what he is. someone who "will not degrade heer's respect, nor yours, bauji". he will live with his father's lack of forgiveness, but it will be his fault, not because "of a girl". he will leave his home, but he will keep his home in his heart always. he will accept his father breaking off from him, but he will not do the same to his father. he will come back when his father calls him. any time. any how.
* big thing: there had to be a gayatri-mom-prem moment, of course. it's the best relationship after prem-heer, after all. i loved that all she said was "don't go", "prem".
the thing that rocked through the whole thing was gayatri-mom's desperation. that stood out -- i guess the rest had to be done just to showcase her part. the way she flitted from prem to lalu, physically grabbing his hand to stop him for just a moment where she might - against all possibilities - get her inflamed husband to calm down and apply his brain!
poor thing, didn't work: the prem train left the juneja mansion station. and she is left sobbing like she has lost everything.
* little thing: frankly the background score today was sad. high pitched female and male voices moaning aaaaaaaahhhhh. this made me go aaaaaaaaarrggggghhhh in parallel. the only audio respite was when prem went to take heer with him? don't really remember.
there was a bit of over-the-top-ness with hc here today? 😲 but i think the script was a tad over the top this time, with too much of the drama.
* big thing (for me): i was soo glad when the three actually left 👏 i was dreading that something would happen to have prem leave without heer.
* little thing: there were actually shameless guests who stayed through the whole drama????? bleagh! i wanted to shout "oi, you stayed this far, stay some more! it's a big house, lots of rooms that the main family doesn't know exist! picture abhi baaki hai!"
* big thing: i like kulraj-di! she seems completely grounded and non-dramatic! maybe having three kids (in what looks like quick succession! 😆) will do that to you? hmm, do you think that if laluchachu actually had borne children, he'd have been more sane? hmm, what a thought -- get men to have kids, and we'd have no wars??
but i loved the way she wrinkled her brow and persisted with "where is prem?" how she slipped into papa instead of bauji when laluchacha is avoiding her question. don't know why but i really liked her.
man, there was something else that i wanted to remember, what was it? gah, i hate prem! oh, ya!
* leetle thing: at the family pooja, preet in the background watches his mom going off and glares at his father. 😆 i thought it was so cute he was staying in character.
i also liked the way that veera harman and the rest, broke into smiles in the middle of the prayer, but unlike preet, did their pranams before they went to the kids. i seriously think that keeping in character is so desperately important for a show, and this one is actually doing it. unlike, i must say the other balaji telefilms shows i've seen.😊
* leetle thing: liked how the kid was pulling and tugging at preet's open shirt front -- kids who are carried, tend to do that! that was sooo cute!
* big thing: kudos to the team for that "entering the house" sequence. it was perfect -- prem, meher, heer -- from start to finish. 👏
* big thing: prem and heer are still talking only with their eyes!! i loved it. i realised that one of the things that i was dreading was they would start talking using their vocal cords, and not their eyes. but no! the prem-heer eyes are still in charge of the conversations. for instance, when meher makes that quick and desperately cute getaway ("hey, look at the windows. aren't these windows great?!" 😆 meher, i love you. )
this is the first time that prem and heer have actually been face to face with each other since the ... mehendi?? they've gone through fire together, been melded together in front of society and the stars, and yet, they've not had a moment of peace with each other. until now. and what is being said?
prem's eyes: er, i know this is a poopy place. but i know it's only going to be temporary. please look at me and tell me it's not so bad. heer?
heer's eyes, sweeping up: you gave up everything everything for me. the family that you adore and adores you, your father who is your god and you can't live with. for me. you don't even know that i'm the girl your father would love you to get married to, and you walk through fire for me. what am i going to do, what can i possibly do to match your gift? what can i give you?
prem's eyes: oh, poop. you are going to feel obliged to me, arent' you? because of all that drama that happened at home. but you know, na, that i'll give my life for you. and you know what it feels like because you did it first. you've already given your life for me once. it's nothing, heer, just what we soul-mates do for each other. let's move on? don't make me fight against your obligation to get your love?
heer's eyes: it's okay for you to say - you're not the one feeling the weight of such a great gift. the gift of a life. oh god, what am i going to do?
and thus saying, heer turns around to hang up the portrait. sigh what a brilliant conversation! i love them... 😍

tulip21 reminded me that heer wore prem's shawl around her neck as a dupatta. of course, my mind instantly wanted to know how it got there:
did prem give it to her? did she ask him for it? i mean, they are already sharing clothes!!! how cute is that!
that then reminded me that heer was wearing rings today - from the shot of her praying in front of her vayu guru, to the last shot of her looking longingly at prem from her window.
big thing: are they already married????

* big? little? prem-heer thing!: then came the only scene that i can really, truly remember with any clarity in the show today, damnit. prem walking into the house from the rain with food for his girls.
* prem thing: (ya, of course, there has to be a/many prem thing/s, the mind-grabbing, memory-sucking hog!) the moment the doors open, the first thing his eyes search for, and lock on, is heer. there's no hesitation, no pause, no heartbeat, no breath. enter, scan, lock-on.
* prem thing: i absolutely absolutely refuse to write a thing about prem-in-a-wet-white-shirt. totally, absolutely nothing 'cause my brain vapourised at that time. (i must have phoenix genes, 'cause i got resurrected to write this. 😆)
but i must say: i am sooo glad that i sent in that application for the job of person-who-buttons-prem's-white-shirt-for-him. 🤣
* heer thing (!): i think her role in this scene warrants a "thing". 😆
- i loved how she took a moment to realise he was there.
- i loved how she took no time at all to recognise the message the prem eyes were sending out at her - "there's nothing i have been more hungry for, in all my life, than you".
- i loved that she came down from the stairs to face that message head on. 😳
- i loved how the female in her - in answer to the sculpted male in front of her - worriedly searched to put her hair more tidily behind her ear.
- i loved how her eyes didn't break from his eyes as he sopped water off his mouth and nose.
(okay, ya, i loved how he didn't bother to wipe his eyes just so that he can keep looking at her like that. but then, he had an ulterior motive - the water on his eyelashes was just dreamy... 😍 omg, i'm gushing like a teenager! 🤪take pity on me, kill me now!)
- and lastly, i loved how her eyes dropped to look at the rest of his face. 😆😍
* prem-heer thing: prem's eye conversation, when she said "tum kahan jaa rahe ho", nearly finished me off.
"tum kahan jaa rahe ho?"
prem's eyes: if i stay here, i will eat you up, little heer.
"but it's raining outside".
prem's eyes: i've heard cold showers work - so i'm going to sit out in the rain.
heer's eyes: oh! (dropped to the floor in a blush)
oh, i so love these eye conversations! 😆😆
okay, okay, so i do think there were a few more noble intentions in prem leaving. but this was certainly part of that conversation! 😆

* little thing: okay, the camera (wo)man is in love with prem. what else can explain those wicked shots of that gorgeous jawline, those superb cheekbones and the dreamy mouth -- all set against a backdrop of rain, highlighted by white lights?? and if that's not enough to convince you, did you see that gratituous shot they threw in of just his eyes!??
to be totally fair, i think they did a lovely job of heer-on-the-ladder as well. but count the screen time and see who they really are in love with. 😆
i think the balaji telefilms people want to have a calm weekend with no loud complaints on the forum. 'cause after this episode, i suspect we are all going to spend our entire weekend in a hormone-filled daze. and i think monday's episode is going to be really bad because this dose-of-prem is probably enough to take us all the way over to tuesday! 😆
* big thing: i hate prem. i know i hate prem. the only thing is .... i can't say why!!
do i just hate prem because he's perfect? that he is more mature and understanding than his father? that he totally understands the predicament that heer has been put into about showing her love for him vs. showing her obligation to him for saving her and her sister? that he will not allow the world to raise a finger on their love, and will spend the entire night in the rain to do it?
do i just hate prem because he is perfect? is it just that? 'cause no one is perfect. so that will be easy to fix -- i'll just spend the weekend thinking of where prem is wrong, wrong, wrong and then i don't have to hate prem.
but.. what if the wrong thing isn't important enough? how can i justify why i hate prem. 'cause i do. i know i do.
it can't be only because this is the only time that i've had my brain vapourised when a guy came on screen? is it?? there must be a reason that i can analyse for why i hate prem???
i want my mother. 😭
highlight of the episode: preet protectively holding his sobbing mom after prem left. meher going "oh, what great windows"! 😆 oh, okay, alright, i'll give you one highlight of the wet-shirt part - one highlight was that the rented room has no lightbulbs to spoil the blue night and moonlight effect on prem's and heer's faces. 😍 happy? 😆
