Finally, Delhi 6 was shot in Delhi.

The cast and crew of the film were in the city on Friday, shooting for the film in Old Delhi and in a Metro station. Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Sonam Kapoor, who plays the female lead in the movie, spoke to TOI about why the eponymous movie wasn't shot in the city earlier.

Why was Delhi 6 shot in Rajasthan?

Says Rakeysh, "Sambar in Rajasthan is a small town and the architecture there is very similar to that in Delhi, which is why we shot there. It was easier for us to recreate Old Delhi out there. If we had brought in an entire film unit to the old city in Delhi, it would have brought in a lot of disruption to the town. That is something we did not want. The shooting that we have done in Delhi is only for the pick-up shots that give the authentic feel of Delhi – like the shots in the Metro station. We obviously did not want to create a nuisance here in the city."

But they love Delhi, says Sonam

However, they were quick to clarify that they loved Delhi and liked coming here. "I love Delhi, I love coming here. I mean, I am a Punjabi, and which Punjabi would not like to come to Delhi?" said Sonam. And is she trying to lose weight to become size zero, like many other actresses in tinsel town are rumoured to be doing? "Do I look like I can be size zero ever?" asked Sonam, and answered her own question. "No way! I might lose more weight if needed, but I will always be healthy and never size zero."
