The forest was unusually quiet that evening.
The same trees that had once witnessed Hidimbi's first meeting with Bhima now stood silently around her. The wind moved through the leaves, but to Hidimbi it sounded almost like a distant memory calling her name.
She stood alone, looking toward the path on which Bhima and the Pandavas had disappeared.
Her eyes remained fixed on the empty path.
Hidimbi (softly):
"Why does the path look so empty today... when only yesterday it carried the footsteps of the man who filled my entire world?"
A tear slowly rolled down her cheek.
She wiped it away immediately.
Hidimbi:
"No... I will not cry. I promised myself I would not make his departure a burden upon his heart."
She took a breath, but her voice trembled.
Hidimbi:
"Bhima... you belonged to your brothers before you ever belonged to me."
For a moment, she closed her eyes.
Flashback
She remembered Bhima standing before her during their first encounter.
His powerful presence had frightened her at first, but something about his courage had drawn her toward him.
Then came the memories of their time together-their conversations, their marriage, and finally the birth of their son, Ghatotkacha.
Hidimbi smiled through her tears.
Hidimbi:
"You gave me something I never knew I could possess... a family."
She looked toward the place where her child was sleeping.
Hidimbi:
"And you gave me a son who carries your strength."
Her smile slowly disappeared.
Hidimbi:
"But you also gave me the hardest lesson of all..."
She lowered her eyes.
Hidimbi:
"To love someone... and still let him go."

Bhima's Last Words - Memory
In her memory, Bhima stood before her before leaving.
Bhima:
"Hidimbi, I do not know what destiny has written for us."
Hidimbi:
"I know what destiny has written for you."
Bhima looked at her silently.
Hidimbi:
"You must walk with your brothers. Kunti Mata needs you. Your brothers need you. Your path cannot end here."
Bhima:
"And what of you?"
Hidimbi forced a smile.
Hidimbi:
"I will remain where you found me."
Bhima stepped closer.
Bhima:
"I cannot promise that I will return soon."
Hidimbi looked directly into his eyes.
Hidimbi:
"I never asked you to promise."
Bhima:
"Then what do you ask of me?"
A long silence followed.
Hidimbi:
"Only this... when you remember your journey, remember that somewhere in this forest, someone is praying for your safety."
Bhima's expression softened.
Bhima:
"You are not someone I can simply forget."
Hidimbi smiled sadly.
Hidimbi:
"Then go."
Bhima:
"Hidimbi..."
Hidimbi:
"Go, Bhima. Before my heart becomes selfish enough to ask you to stay."
Bhima hesitated.
Hidimbi turned her face away so that he would not see her tears.
Hidimbi:
"Do not look back."
Bhima finally turned and walked away.
---
Back to the Present
Hidimbi opened her eyes.
The memory was gone, but the pain remained.
She whispered:
Hidimbi:
"I told you not to look back... because I knew that if you did, I would never have the strength to let you leave."
She touched her heart.
Hidimbi:
"But why did no one tell me that letting go would hurt this much?"
Suddenly, Ghatotkacha's voice could be heard nearby.
Ghatotkacha:
"Mother?"
Hidimbi quickly wiped her tears.
She turned toward him and smiled.
Hidimbi:
"Yes, my son?"
Ghatotkacha looked at her face.
Ghatotkacha:
"Were you crying?"
Hidimbi knelt beside him.
Hidimbi:
"No."
The child looked at her innocently.
Ghatotkacha:
"Then why are there tears in your eyes?"
Hidimbi could not answer immediately.
She pulled him close.
Hidimbi:
"Sometimes, my son, tears come when the heart remembers someone it loves."
Ghatotkacha:
"Father?"
Hidimbi's eyes filled again.
She nodded.
Hidimbi:
"Yes."
Ghatotkacha:
"Will Father come back?"
Hidimbi looked toward the distant path.
There was a long silence.
Hidimbi:
"I don't know when he will return."
Ghatotkacha looked disappointed.
Hidimbi gently held his face.
Hidimbi:
"But remember this-your father may walk far away from this forest, but you will always live in his heart."
Ghatotkacha:
"Then when he calls me, I will go to him."
Hidimbi froze.
Those words struck the deepest fear in her heart.
She knew exactly what they meant.
One day, Ghatotkacha might hear the call of the Pandavas.
One day, his father's destiny might become his destiny.
She pulled him into a tight embrace.
Hidimbi:
"If that day comes... I will not stop you."
Her voice broke.
Hidimbi:
"Even if my heart begs me to."
Ghatotkacha looked at her, confused.
Ghatotkacha:
"Mother, why would you stop me?"
Hidimbi smiled through her tears.
Hidimbi:
"Because a mother's heart wants to keep her child safe."
She kissed his forehead.
Hidimbi:
"But a mother's love must sometimes be stronger than her fear."
---
The Final Emotional Moment
Hidimbi watched her son walk ahead.
She remained behind for a moment, staring at the path Bhima had taken.
Hidimbi (voice-over):
"Perhaps this is the price of loving a hero."
She looked toward the sky.
Hidimbi:
"The world will remember his battles."
A tear fell.
Hidimbi:
"It will remember his victories."
Another tear.
Hidimbi:
"It will remember his strength."
She placed her hand over her heart.
Hidimbi:
"But who will remember the woman who waited?"
The forest remained silent.
Hidimbi slowly smiled-not because the pain had disappeared, but because she had accepted it.
Hidimbi:
"Go, Bhima. Fulfil the destiny that belongs to you."
She looked toward the road once more.
Hidimbi:
"And wherever your destiny takes you... remember that one heart will always wait for you here."
The camera would slowly pull away, leaving Hidimbi standing alone beneath the trees as the evening light fades.
Hidimbi (whispering):
"Some loves are not meant to remain beside us... some loves become the strength that allows us to let go."
The tale of a waiting heart
With the Pandavas leaving the forest to reclaim their royal destiny, Hidimbi stood in the quiet of the forest, watching the empty path where Bhima had disappeared.
Ghatotkacha, too young to understand the gravity of the situation and what the future holds for both him and his mother, was standing with a confused and innocent heart. He knew that his father was a hero, and he would run to his side whenever he was asked. He also knew that his mother would want the same from him. She isn't going to hold him back to shield him from the brutal destiny that came with his father's blood.
Turning to face her son, she placed her hands on his shoulders, her voice heavy with quiet resolve: "Your father has a world to fight," she whispered, her voice heavy with quiet resolve. "And when he needs you, you will go to him without fear. You will fight for him until your last breath, not for a kingdom, but because you are his son."
Bhima had given her his love and a son, but left her with an eternity of waiting. And it's not like she was kept in the dark or was promised the royalty, the palaces, and all the materialistic pleasures. For her, none of it mattered; what did is that she had known real love, even if only for a brief moment in time. Her love for Bhima was out of any expectations - the royalty or the pretense. Her love asked for nothing in return. It remained in their hearts, forever and ever.
Hidimba: The Love That Stayed Behind
The thick canopy of the forest cast long, melancholy shadows as the time for parting finally arrived. The air, usually filled with the rustling of ancient leaves, felt heavy and still, as if the very trees were holding their breath. In the quiet clearing, Hidimba stood before Bhima, her eyes glistening with unshed tears, yet holding the quiet, unwavering dignity of a forest queen. Beside her stood their young son, Ghatotkacha, looking up at his mighty father with a mixture of awe and childish innocence, unaware of the sorrow tightening his mother's heart.
Bhima's broad chest rose and fell with a heavy sigh. His heart, usually unbreakable like the mountains, felt tender and fractured. He looked at Hidimba - the woman who had offered him sanctuary, love, and fierce loyalty during their darkest days in exile.
He placed a large, gentle hand on her shoulder, his voice thick with emotion. He thanked her for her boundless grace, acknowledging that without her, he and his family might never have survived the perils of the forest. Knowing he had to return to his mother, Kunti, and his brothers to fulfill their destiny, Bhima made a sacred promise: whenever his family or his son needed him, he would instantly appear by their side.
Hidimba smiled through her tears, accepting his departure with quiet dignity. She knew the great path that lay ahead for the Pandavas and refused to bind him with chains of sorrow.
With one last, lingering look at the woman who had sheltered him in the wild, Bhima turned away. He lifted little Ghatotkacha into his arms for a brief, crushing embrace, his voice rough and thick with suppressed emotion as he murmured against the boy's hair: "Grow strong, my son. The earth will tremble beneath your feet one day, but let your heart be as steadfast as the roots of this forest."
As Bhima stepped beyond the boundary of the trees and onto the dusty road leading toward his brothers, Hidimba did not call out. She stood tall beneath the giant sal trees, holding their son close and watching until the massive frame of the Pandava hero vanished entirely into the distance. Only then, as he finally slipped out of her vision, did a single tear trace its silent path down her cheek.
The silence of the forest lingered long after his footsteps faded. Hidimba looked down at Ghatotkacha, tracing the familiar contours of his face - the fierce jawline and broad shoulders that already hinted at the immense power he would one day wield and found a sudden, anchoring strength in her role as a mother.
She resolved to raise him in the wild heart of the forest, far from the treacherous politics of kingdoms and courts, while teaching him of his royal blood and the great duty that pulsed within his veins.
Meanwhile, miles away on the sun-baked road, Bhima walked in solitude, his massive fists clenched at his sides to fight the hollow ache in his chest. Every stride took him farther from the sanctuary he had briefly called home, drawing him back toward the trials of exile, Kunti, his brothers, and the gathering clouds of an inevitable war.
Yet, even as the distance between them grew, the silent vow remained immutable, binding them across the wilderness and promising that when the hour of greatest need arrived, the mighty Pandava would return.
🌿 Scene 2 - The Promise Beyond Goodbye
Not every goodbye needs tears sometimes, love becomes strongest when it learns to stand silently.
1. Hidimbi watched Bhima preparing to leave, but she did not try to stop himnot even once.
2. She knew that the man standing before her was not meant to remain hidden in the forest; he had a larger destiny waiting for him beyond those trees.
3. Bhima looked at her and said, "Hidimbi, I owe you more than I can ever repay."
4. Hidimbi smiled gently and replied, "Then don't repay me, Bhima. Just remember that you were once happy here."
5. Bhima looked towards their little son, Ghatotkacha, and his expression softened.
6. For a warrior who feared no battlefield, leaving his wife and child was perhaps the hardest battle of all.
7. Bhima asked, "What if he grows up and asks why his father left him?"
8. Hidimbi placed her hand on Ghatotkacha's head and answered, "Then I will tell him that his father did not leave him; he simply walked towards a duty that could not wait."
9. Bhima remained silent, because he knew she was trying to make his departure easier even while her own heart was breaking.
10. Hidimbi then looked directly at him and said, "Do not carry guilt for staying away from us. Carry only the strength to return whenever destiny calls you back."
11. Bhima promised, "Whenever you or our son need me, I will come."
12. Hidimbi smiled and replied, "I believe you. But I don't want Ghatotkacha to grow up waiting for his father's shadow. I want him to become a man who creates his own."
13. Those words made Bhima realise that Hidimbi was not asking him to choose between his family and his duty-she was giving him the courage to fulfil both.
14. Before leaving, Bhima embraced Ghatotkacha and whispered, "Become stronger than your father, my son-but never forget the heart your mother gave you."
15. Ghatotkacha innocently asked, "Father, when will you come back?"
16. Bhima looked at Hidimbi, unable to answer, but she gently said, "Whenever the path brings him back to us."
17. Bhima finally turned towards the path, and this time Hidimbi did not watch him as a woman losing her husband, but as a mother sending the father of her child towards his destiny.
18. As his footsteps slowly disappeared, she held Ghatotkacha close and whispered, "Remember, my son-your father's greatest strength is his courage, but your greatest strength will be knowing when that courage is needed."
19. The forest became quiet again, but Hidimbi was no longer waiting helplessly for Bhima's return. She had a son to raise, a legacy to protect and a promise to keep.
20. And somewhere beyond the trees, Bhima carried with him the knowledge that while the world might remember him as a mighty warrior, there was one woman who knew the man behind the warrior.
