EPISODE 3 - "A NEW PARTNERSHIP"

SCENE 1 - SABHARWAL GROUP - MORNING

FADE IN.

The Sabharwal Group office is already busy.

Employees walk through the corridors carrying files and coffee.

The elevator doors open.

KASTURI CHAWLA steps out.

She walks toward her desk with confidence.

She places her bag down and checks the project documents.

A colleague approaches.

COLLEAGUE

Good morning, Kasturi.

KASTURI

Good morning.

COLLEAGUE

Ready for the big presentation?

Kasturi looks up.

KASTURI

Presentation?

The colleague freezes.

COLLEAGUE

You didn't know?

Kasturi looks confused.

KASTURI

Know what?

Before the colleague can answer-

ROBBIE (O.S.)

I was going to tell her.

Kasturi turns.

Robbie stands behind them.

ROBBIE

The presentation is today.

Kasturi looks at him.

KASTURI

Today?

ROBBIE

Yes.

KASTURI

And you were going to tell me when?

Robbie smiles.

ROBBIE

Now.

Kasturi stares at him.

KASTURI

Very helpful.

She picks up the files.

KASTURI

Where?

ROBBIE

Conference room. Ten minutes.

He walks away.

Kasturi watches him.

KASTURI

Ten minutes?

She looks at her colleague.

KASTURI

I already don't like this day.

SCENE 2 - CONFERENCE ROOM

Robbie and Kasturi sit across from each other.

A presentation is displayed on the screen.

Kasturi flips through the documents.

These figures are incomplete.

ROBBIE

They're preliminary.

KASTURI

Then we can't present them as final.

ROBBIE

We don't need every detail.

KASTURI

I disagree.

Robbie looks at her.

ROBBIE

You always disagree?

KASTURI

Only when you're wrong.

A small smile appears on Robbie's face.

ROBBIE

Confident.

KASTURI

Prepared.

Raunak enters.

RAUNAK

Am I interrupting something?

ROBBIE

No.

KASTURI

They look at each other.

Raunak smiles.

Kasturi stands beside the screen.

She explains the changes she wants.

The opening should be shorter.

Robbie shakes his head.

ROBBIE

KASTURI

Why?

ROBBIE

Because the campaign needs impact.

KASTURI

Impact doesn't mean making people sit through five minutes of unnecessary information.

Robbie looks at her.

ROBBIE

You really don't hold back.

KASTURI

Neither do you.

Raunak watches them.

RAUNAK

both of you are actually making the same point.

They look at him.

Devika sits in the living room.

Alaana joins her.

ALAANA

Mom, Robbie has been spending a lot of time at the office lately.

Devika smiles.

That's a good thing.

ALAANA

With the new project?

DEVIKA

Yes.

Alaana pauses.

ALAANA

And the new girl?

Devika looks at her.

DEVIKA

Kasturi?

Alaana nods.

ALAANA

She's different.

Devika smiles.

DEVIKA

Different isn't always bad.

Purshotam enters.

PURSHOTAM

How is the presentation preparation?

ALAANA

Robbie and Kasturi are handling it.

Purshotam smiles.

Good.

Devika notices the smile.

Kasturi is getting ready for the presentation.

Kaushalya notices her nervous expression.

I have a presentation today.

You're worried?

Not about the presentation.

KAUSHALYA

Kasturi hesitates.

He starts the presentation.

A few minutes later, he looks toward Kasturi.

She understands immediately.

She takes over.

KASTURI

The next phase focuses on customer engagement.

She confidently explains the strategy.

The room listens.

Purshotam looks impressed.

Robbie watches her.

Kasturi notices.

She continues without losing focus.

Purshotam smiles.

You were nervous.

ROBBIE

You were holding your pen too tightly.

Kasturi looks at her hand.

She realizes he's right.

KASTURI

You notice everything?

ROBBIE

Not everything.

A beat.

ROBBIE

Some things.

Kasturi looks at him.

A brief silence.

Then she walks away.

Robbie watches her go.

SCENE 8 - LUNCH

Kasturi sits in the cafeteria.

She opens her lunchbox.

Robbie arrives with Raunak.

Raunak notices the empty chair.

RAUNAK

Can we sit here?

Kasturi looks up.

KASTURI

Of course.

Robbie sits opposite her.

Raunak looks at Kasturi's lunch.

RAUNAK

Homemade?

KASTURI

Yes.

RAUNAK

Looks good.

Kasturi smiles.

KASTURI

Thank you.

Robbie looks at it.

ROBBIE

You really bring the same food every day?

Kasturi looks at him.

KASTURI

You really ask unnecessary questions every day?

Raunak laughs.

RAUNAK

Point to Kasturi.

Robbie shakes his head.

Kasturi gets up to leave.

Her bracelet catches on the chair.

She tries to free it.

Robbie notices.

He carefully frees the bracelet.

Their eyes meet.

ROBBIE

You're welcome.

For a moment, neither speaks.

Raunak notices the moment.

He quietly gets up.

RAUNAK

I'll... leave you two to discuss the weather.

Kasturi looks embarrassed.

He laughs and walks away.

Robbie smiles.

Later that evening, Robbie is composing music.

Kasturi enters carrying a file.

She stops when she hears the melody.

I have the revised presentation.

She puts the file down.

Kasturi looks toward the piano.

You write your own music?

ROBBIE

KASTURI

Robbie thinks.

ROBBIE

Because sometimes music says things people can't.

Kasturi looks at him.

Kasturi immediately looks away.

There's nothing to tell.

TANNU

You said his name very quickly.

Kasturi laughs.

KASTURI

He's my boss.

TANNU

That's not what I asked.

Kasturi throws a cushion at her.

KASTURI

Go to sleep.

Tannu laughs.

Robbie looks at the project file.

He notices Kasturi's handwritten notes.

He smiles.

Raunak appears at the door.

Robbie closes the file.

Sure.

ROBBIE

RAUNAK

Raunak leaves.

Robbie looks at the file again.

SCENE 14 - NEXT MORNING

Kasturi arrives at the office.

Robbie is already there.

He places a coffee cup on her desk.

Kasturi looks surprised.

KASTURI

What's this?

ROBBIE

Coffee.

KASTURI

I can see that.

ROBBIE

You looked tired yesterday.

Kasturi looks at him.

KASTURI

How do you know how I take it?

Robbie smiles.

ROBBIE

I guessed.

Kasturi takes the cup.

KASTURI

Thank you.

Robbie nods.

He walks away.

Kasturi takes a sip.

She smiles.

Robbie reaches his office.

He turns back.

Through the glass wall, he sees Kasturi working.

She looks up.

Their eyes meet.

Neither looks away immediately.

The office noise fades.

Only a soft instrumental melody plays.

Then, slowly...

they become familiar.

without realizing it...

you begin looking forward to seeing them.

He smiles faintly.
