16:50 Local Time, 11:20 GMT: Play has been called off for the day. The rain has become heavier and there was no chance that the ground could be readied for a restart. India will be pleased with the session after picking up three wickets. The visitors wrapped up Sri Lanka's first innings early in the morning and enforced the follow-on, but the Sri Lankan top order showed far greater resilience in the second innings. Pasindu Sooriyabandara once again impressed, making 92 and sharing a gritty partnership with Kamindu Mendis. With the pair at the crease, Sri Lanka appeared well placed to build a sizeable lead. However, Kamindu Mendis' rash shot brought a crucial breakthrough, with Shubman Gill taking an excellent running catch near square leg. That wicket proved to be a turning point in the 2nd innings as India clawed their way back and prevented Sri Lanka from building any further substantial partnerships. They picked up three wickets in the final session to regain control. Sri Lanka currently lead by 16 runs, with India needing just four more wickets to wrap up the innings. India will look to make the most of the morning session, with the second new ball now less than eight overs away. Rain is expected on Day 5, but there should still be sufficient time to force a result if the weather permits play. Sri Lanka lead by 16 runs, but they have only four wickets in hand. And at the forefront is Sonal Dinusha, who has been in sensational touch throughout the series. Sri Lanka's standout batter, Dinusha has amassed nearly 300 runs, including two centuries, leaving India struggling to find a way past him. With little batting support left and the second new ball looming, even Dinusha faces a daunting task of keeping Sri Lanka afloat, especially in these overcast conditions. And with the pitch also beginning to deteriorate, the challenge becomes even steeper.
