As per CHATGPT

regional licensing/copyright agreements. YouTube says video owners can restrict videos to particular countries because they have different licensing rights in different regions.

Dark Night and Dawn was pretty good for me!

@Soni Republican Era dramas partially fall under historical, will you watch them? Definitely wouldn't suggest Overdo, but asking in general smiley36 for future references

People are calling Murong Qing Yi a red flag in the novel, but honestly, he didn't feel like a red flag to me in the drama.

Most of the problems happened because Ran Susu stayed silent and didn't speak up at the right time.

I've also read that a lot of scenes were edited out.

The way the drama was directed really makes it feel like many important scenes were cut, whether due to censorship or some other reason.smiley29

From what I read in an article, the drama was originally planned to have around 38–40 episodes (I'm not completely sure), but people are saying it only received a license for 33 episodes.smiley7

One character goes through an unbelievable amount of suffering, and even the ending isn't a proper happy ending. smiley7

It feels awkward and unsatisfying.smiley6

Overall, I thought Murong Qing Yi, Ran Susu, and Ye Zhi Hong had the most stylish looks. He Qiu, who plays Ye Zhi Hong, has excellent screen presence.

She carried the pilot look really well.

I also feel that Zhang Linghe's acting has improved a lot compared to The Best Thing. There's a rain fight scene that was choreographed beautifully.smiley32

As for the story, it's unnecessarily tragic.

The writers made the characters suffer for no good reason.

It ended up feeling like an Indian daily soap. Overall, I'm totally disappointed with the endingsmiley38

Because Murong Qingyi IS A RED FLAG in the novel. The drama Murong Qingyi is not even 0.01% of what the author wrote. That's why I said they tried to tone him down but made him a weak male lead instead.

Romantic?? My foot, Murong Qingyi forced himself on Ren Susu after meeting her for 3rd or 4th time. Right after that morning, he left his private house and went abroad as arranged by his mother. Ren Susu had to go through her pregnancy and childbirth all alone. For someone like her who was living under someone else's roof she couldn't bother them with a child, she gave her child up for adoption and pulled her health back to normal and started dancing again to support herself.

Then this guy comes back, goes to the dance house, sees her again and brings her back to his private house. His first reaction upon learning he had a child was definitely not happiness and he had his confidant oversee the death of the child.

He did all sorts of monkey tricks to marry her as his legal wife only to abandon her in a few months. Gave cold shoulder, didn't visit her, sent her back to his private residence while he lived in the Murong mansion. Meanwhile he was fooling around with a courtesan, who even once called his home and accidentally Ren Susu attended that call. Somehow his mother invited Ren Susu back to the main house and let them patch up. She got pregnant again and he came to know Ren Susu, Mulan and one of their male friends from the dance group who had feelings for Ren Susu back then hung out together and he questioned RSS if the child in her belly was pure.

He didn't stop at it, he even refused to look at their daughter as she was born. That's when Ren Susu snapped and took a car with Mulan and dashed into a tree. Again his mother intervened and arranged a divorce and for Ren Susu to go abroad and never return back to this gem of her child.

He was grumpy and snapping at his daughter because she looked like Ren Susu until one day he found out the kid he thought was dead was actually alive. And guess what he did????? Called Ren Susu back to China and arranged for her to stay in the private residence again. Calling Murong Qingyi a red flag instead of a lunatic is a kind act.

And after seeing the drama Murong Qingyi, I think I would have sat through a douchebag instead of the spineless version from the drama smiley29

Oh, then the novel's story is completely different.

There's a huge difference between the novel and the drama.smiley5

In the drama, Ren Susu and Murong Qingyi first connected through letters.

Ren Susu used to send letters to Mulan, but Mulan was no longer living at the rented house, so those letters ended up in Murong Qingyi's hands instead.

They started replying to each other's letters and got to know one another that way.

The drama is mainly about a human trafficking case. Girls from an orphanage were being sold into brothels, and Ren Susu was on a mission to expose the trafficking ring.

During that mission, she met Murong Qingyi in person for the first time.

Mulan had been sold by the orphanage to a man who kept her at his house.

Ren Susu went there to rescue her, but during the struggle, that man was killed. However, the blame fell on Murong Qingyi.

Later, Murong Qingyi confronted Ren Susu and asked why she had done it.

She admitted that she had only used him. Then she grabbed his hand, which was holding a gun, and pulled the trigger on herself, making it look as if Murong Qingyi had shot her.

She did this to protect him because she didn't want him to be dragged into the case or face any legal trouble.

Unfortunately, her plan completely backfired.

The dead man's family relentlessly targeted Murong Qingyi.

He was sentenced to three years in prison, and during that time he was brutally tortured. smiley7

They permanently damaged his hand, destroying his dream of becoming a surgeon.

After that, he could never perform surgery again for the rest of his lifesmiley18
