Part 1: The Revelation

After exposing the truth behind the false allegations involving Vicky Sharma, Parshuram successfully destroyed the villains' first attempt to defame Shalini. The evidence he gathered proved that Vicky had been fed information about the Deshmukh family by unknown sources, causing the entire story to lose credibility.

But the victory was short-lived.

Realizing that Parshuram was the reason their plans kept failing, the villains decided to turn him into the center of their next conspiracy. They began spreading rumors that Shalini and Parshuram shared a secret relationship.

The accusation quickly gained attention because Parshuram's presence in the Deshmukh family's life was impossible to ignore. Since arriving in Mumbai, he had protected the family at every step, especially Shalini and her children. He appeared whenever they were in danger, stood by them during every crisis, and often put himself at risk for their safety.

The villains used these facts to build a believable lie. They twisted his loyalty into evidence, his concern into affection, and his sacrifices into proof of a hidden relationship. Soon, whispers began spreading throughout society that Parshuram was not merely a well-wisher but Shalini's alleged lover.

As the rumors grew, Shalini found herself facing a fresh wave of humiliation. Worse, the allegations threatened to strengthen the existing suspicion surrounding Shivprasad's disappearance. People began questioning whether there was a connection between Shiv's presumed death and Parshuram's sudden appearance in the family's life.

Watching all this unfold became unbearable for Parshuram. He had spent days investigating the attack in Manali, trying to uncover Sheetal's role and identify the person who had truly shot him. But now his wife was suffering because of his continued silence.

The rumors had spread far and wide.

Everywhere Shalini went, people whispered the same thing. Some claimed that Parshuram was her secret lover. Others went even further, suggesting that Shivprasad's disappearance and Parshuram's arrival in her life were somehow connected.

But Shalini never wavered.

Again and again, she stood before everyone and repeated the same truth.

"Parshuram has helped my family when nobody else did. He has protected my children and stood by us in difficult times. But beyond that, there is nothing between us. He is a well-wisher, nothing more."

When people questioned her loyalty, her voice only grew stronger.

"My husband is Shivprasad Deshmukh. I loved him yesterday, I love him today, and I will love him tomorrow. No rumor can change that."

Unknown to her, the man she was defending sat silently in the shadows, listening.

For the first time since Parshuram, he began to wonder whether keeping the truth hidden was causing more harm than good. The investigation was not yet complete, but neither was his responsibility toward his family.

And for the first time, he seriously considered telling her the truth.

The best person to tell Shalini the truth was him : not a stranger, not a villain, and certainly not fate.

The very next day, Parshuram stood outside the Deshmukh house.

He had chosen his timing carefully. The children were away and Shalini was alone.

After a brief hesitation, he knocked.

The door opened.

Shalini looked at the unfamiliar man standing before her.

"Yes?"

For a moment, Parshuram simply looked at her.

His wife. His partner. The woman he had spent ten years loving. The woman who was being dragged through the mud because somewhere because of lies he had failed to stop in time.

He pushed the emotions aside. Not yet. "I need to speak with you," he said quietly. Shalini frowned. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" A faint smile touched his lips, "Actually, you do."

Her confusion deepened. Before she could ask another question, he lowered his voice. "My name is Parshuram."

"Parshuram?" Shalini asked, surprised.

"I need to speak with you. It's important."

Something in his tone made her uneasy, but she stepped aside and allowed him to enter. The moment he crossed the threshold, Parshuram glanced around the house. His eyes scanned the living room, kitchen and the hallway leading to bedroom inside.

Satisfied that nobody else was present, he turned and quietly shut the front door behind him.

Then he locked it. The sharp click echoed through the room. Shalini immediately stiffened. "Why did you lock the door?"

Parshuram ignored the question and continued surveying the room, making absolutely certain that they would not be overheard. A knot formed in Shalini's stomach.

Over the past few days, she had heard countless rumors about herself and Parshuram. Though she had dismissed them all, being alone in the house with him now suddenly felt very different.

"Parshuram?" she repeated, her voice firmer this time.

Only then did he turn toward her.

"What I have to say cannot be heard by anyone else."

Instead of reassuring her, his words only heightened her concern.

Shalini instinctively took a step back.

"What is going on?"

Parshuram finally spoke. "The rumors about us are getting stronger. The villains (Karan & Dixits) aren't going to stop. If anything, they'll become more aggressive."

Shalini frowned but remained silent. "I've been thinking about how to deal with them," he continued. "And I believe there is only one way."

"What way?"

Parshuram met her gaze. "We give them what they want."

The words hit her like a slap.

"What?"

"We let them believe the rumors are true."

Shalini stared at him in disbelief.

"If they think we're involved, we can use that assumption against them. We can draw them out and expose them."

For a second, she wondered whether she had heard him correctly.

Then shock gave way to anger.

And from there, anger quickly turned into outrage.

"No."

"Mrs. Deshmukh, listen ..."

"No, Mr. Parshuram."

Her voice rose with every word.

"I don't care what strategy you've come up with. I don't care how clever it sounds. I will not support a lie."

Parshuram tried again.

"It could help expose them."

"And destroy my husband's memory in the process?"

The anger in her eyes surprised even him.

"My husband is Shivprasad Deshmukh. The man I married. The man I love. As long as I breathe, no one will take his place."

A small smile appeared on Parshuram's face.

Not because he enjoyed her anger.

But because every word she spoke was a reminder of how deeply she still loved him.

"I don't think you understand ..."

"No, you don't understand," she interrupted.

"There has never been an immoral relationship between us. Not in the past. Not now. Not ever."

The smile on Parshuram's face grew.

His wife was practically defending him to himself.

For the first time, he considered ending the charade.

Perhaps this was the moment to tell her the truth.

Perhaps she deserved to know.

He took a step forward.

"Shalini, there's something I need to tell- "

The metallic click of a gun interrupted him.

Parshuram froze.

A pistol was pointed directly at his forehead.

The warmth vanished from his expression instantly.

Shalini stood before him, steady and unshaken.

Her grip didn't tremble.

Her stance was perfect.

Professional.

Trained.

Dangerous.

Parshuram's eyes narrowed.

This was not the posture of an ordinary civilian.

This was the posture of an operative.

"What is this?" he asked quietly.

Shalini's expression remained unreadable.

"No, Mr. Parshuram. The real question is—who are you?"

For a moment, neither of them moved.

The room fell silent.

"You claim to be an undercover agent," she continued. "You are also connected to Manali's case, and also helped trace our children when they were kidnapped."

Parshuram's eyes widened slightly.

She had checked.

Not only had she researched... she had access to places ordinary people shouldn't.

"Your story doesn't add up," she continued. "You appear out of nowhere. You know things you shouldn't know. You arrive whenever my family is in danger. And now you've locked the door and asked me to participate in a fake affair."

The gun remained steady.

"So tell me, Mr. Parshuram. Who exactly are you?"

For the first time in days, Parshuram found himself on the defensive.

Before he could answer, Shalini spoke again.

"If you really are what you claim to be, contact your department."

A faint smile appeared on her lips.

"And ask them about Agent Janaki [Any better name suggested?]."

Parshuram's heartbeat stopped.

Agent Janaki?

The name hit him harder than the gun pointed at his head.

His eyes searched her face for any sign that she was bluffing.

There was none.

The confidence.

The discipline.

The way she held her weapon.

Everything suddenly made sense.

Shalini took a step closer.

"You seem surprised."

Parshuram could only stare.

The woman he had spent days protecting.

The woman everyone believed needed saving.

The woman he had been trying so desperately to shield from danger.

Was not a helpless victim at all.

She was an operative.

A trained one.

And somehow, his wife had managed to keep that secret from even him.

Parshuram's mind raced.

Agent Janaki.

A trained operative.

Suddenly, the events in Manali no longer made sense.

For days, he had replayed the shooting in his head. He remembered turning after being shot and seeing a gun in Shalini's hand. At the time, he had dismissed the possibility that she had intentionally pulled the trigger. He knew his wife too well to believe that.

But now another question emerged.

If Shalini was a trained agent, then how had she missed?

A field operative did not fire recklessly. They were trained to stay calm under pressure, assess a situation in seconds, and hit their intended target.

The woman standing before him was clearly skilled. Her stance was flawless. Her grip was steady. Her eyes never left him.

This was not someone who accidentally mishandled a weapon.

So what had really happened that day?

Had Shalini fired at her husband?

Had someone else taken the shot and carefully staged the scene to make it appear as though the weapon belonged to her?

Or was there a piece of the puzzle that he was still missing?

The revelation that Shalini was Agent Janaki didn't answer his questions.

It created even more of them.

Parshuram realized he would have to investigate the incident once again from an entirely new angle - not because he believed Shalini was guilty, but because the truth behind the shooting was far more complicated than he had imagained.

Across the room, Shalini continued to hold him at gunpoint, waiting for answers.

She had no idea that with a single name - Agent Janaki - she had just turned his entire investigation upside down.

And judging by the unwavering look in her eyes, she was hiding truths of her own.

Part 2: Who is Parshuram?

WIP: Suggestions and help is welcomed. I am lost as to how do I take this forward.smiley36

For several long seconds, neither of them spoke.

The room felt impossibly silent.

Agent Janaki.

The words continued to echo through Parshuram's mind.

His wife.

His Shalini.

A trained operative.

Ten years of shared dreams, shared battles, shared responsibilities.

Before Shalini could react, Parshuram moved. In one swift motion, the gun was out of her hand. The weapon landed several feet away.

"Parshuram!" The name left her lips instinctively as she looked at him in shock.

He walked toward her. Slowly. Deliberately. And for reasons she couldn't explain, Shalini found herself taking a step back. Then another. And another.

"Stay where you are." The command left her mouth automatically.

Parshuram ignored it. His eyes never left hers. He didn't stop.

"At least stay two feet away from me," She demanded. A humorless smile crossed his face, "Two feet?"

He took another step. The distance disappeared.

Shalini's back hit the wall. For a brief moment, she considered pushing past him, but couldn't. Parshuram placed his hands against the wall on either side of her. Just refusing to let the distance she demanded exist between them.

Their faces were now only inches apart. "I think we're long past worrying about distance," he said quietly as he gently caressed her left cheek. Shalini froze. A strange discomfort settled over her. For the first time since drawing her weapon, uncertainty crept into her mind.

She had faced criminals. Armed men. Dangerous missions. But none of them had looked at her the way Parshuram was looking at her now.

She had nowhere left to go. For several seconds neither spoke. The silence felt unbearable.

Then... Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Maa!" The sound shattered the moment instantly. Both froze.

"Maa! Open the door!" The children. Parshuram immediately stepped back. The intensity vanished from his face as quickly as it had appeared. The stranger returned. The mask returned. Without a word, he walked toward the door. Shalini remained exactly where she was. Her heart was still racing.

Nothing about the last few minutes made sense. Nothing. Parshuram unlocked the door. The children rushed inside.
