Ashish Chanchlani reveals what happened behind the scenes before Latent Season 2 returned

Comedian Ashish Chanchlani has voiced support for Samay Raina following the premiere of India's Got Latent Season 2. His comments came after some viewers claimed the new season felt more restrained compared to earlier episodes and lacked the spontaneity that had made the show popular.

Responding to the criticism, Ashish shared a message on Instagram Stories, urging audiences to consider the circumstances under which the show returned. He pointed out that bringing back the series was far from straightforward and involved several challenges behind the scenes.

Addressing viewers directly, Ashish wrote, "For people saying latent is too filtered or has lost its charm and shit.. Just remember we had to fight a year long legal battle where we promised to stay in line and make sure history doesn't repeat itself (sic)."

He further explained that the future of the show had remained uncertain for a long time. According to him, there were moments when a second season appeared unlikely. However, he credited Samay for continuing to work towards reviving the project despite the obstacles.

"It was almost an uncertainty that this show will come back. But somehow @maisamayhoon made sure he brings it back for yall. He has fought countless battles behind the scenes. It was an uphill almost impossible pipe dream for S2 to even exist. Kabhi kabhi kuch cheeze karni padti hai.. So please Support karo usko aur enjoy karo (There are some things that need to happen. Please support and enjoy) (sic)," he added.

The latest season is being released on both YouTube and Netflix, allowing audiences to choose their preferred platform. While the overall format remains largely unchanged, Netflix offers an advertisement free viewing experience, while YouTube continues to provide interactive audience engagement through comments.

The show had previously faced significant controversy after remarks made by guest Ranveer Allahbadia on an episode triggered widespread criticism. The backlash led to multiple legal challenges and raised doubts about the show's future.

Despite those setbacks, India's Got Latent Season 2 premiered on June 20. The opening episode featured actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, who appeared on the show while promoting their upcoming film Alpha.
