Few epis prior it was shown Gayathri being emotional looking at the photo of her kids most probably the photo was taken at RN's wedding since it had Arya too. The two brothers Harsh and Yash were shown quite young. So most probably this Yash guy left home or was forcefully evicted at a very young age and hence Gayathri could not recognise him but she did feel some instant connection.
