FWICE isn't banning Ranveer. They're banning their own 500,000 members to work with Ranveer. They have jurisdiction over their own members, don't they? Nothing illegal about it.

I posted the variety article on here already where they asked a legal expert about this:

Speaking on the matter, advocate Ameet Naik, Founder and Managing Partner, Naik Naik & Co. observes, “The order passed by FWICE is illegal in more ways than one. Firstly, you can't have an order that bans anybody. That's in restraint of trade. Secondly, this is an abuse of dominant position and violative of competition laws. Thirdly, the FWICE has no jurisdiction and ultimately it is not a statutory body. So, now, by all these three counts, according to me, this order is liable to be set aside and must not be sustained. Such orders go to the root of fundamental rights of citizens and particularly personal liberty, right to livelihood, Article 19 and Article 21. And according to me, FWICE had no business in passing such an order.”

Like I said, it's not a ban. They've asked their own members not to work with him which is completely legal. FWICE has already clarified that.

I’m won’t be so sure a “ban” from a film union is an explicit ban…there might be nuances here we are not aware of …like it may not be an official ban but an implicit stance by the union and its members to not work with the artist ….chinmayi sripada (singer who sang titli in Chennai express) got banned in Chennai film industry but when actors and directors and music directors specifically wanted her (96, thug life) they did hire her to dub and sing…she said her opportunities drastically reduced tho…and her court case is still running seemingly against this ban….her case is much worse and horrible …she had raised a voice against a prominent politically aligned lyricist who harassed her and was banned as a result which is horrible

These sorts of bans happen often in kannada and Tamil film industries and even Telugu where there are artist associations …I remember Prakash raj was also briefly banned for misbehaving with a crew member or something …

Ranveers case seems more civil and not criminal ….so it might be within the legal limit of what unions can do….i mean u have people releasing an official press release and a signed letter to officiate …ud think they do their due diligence in terms of the legalities of said letter…why would anyone call the press and do something illegal 😂
