The ongoing controversy around Ranveer Singh and his exit from Don 3 has taken another turn after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees clarified that the actor has not been “banned” by the organisation. FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit stated that the body has only issued a non cooperation directive against the actor.
The clarification came a day after reports suggested that FWICE had banned Ranveer Singh following his sudden exit from the Farhan Akhtar directorial. Speaking to ETimes, Ashoke said, “See, first of all, the entire conversation has become wrong. It’s not a ban. See, we are not a court; we can’t ban people, yaar. So we have issued a non cooperation.”
He further explained that members associated with FWICE’s 30 different crafts have been asked not to work with the actor until the matter is addressed. However, he added that individual members can still take their own call regarding future collaborations.
Ashoke also claimed that the matter remains unresolved and warned that such exits from projects could create problems for producers in the industry. Referring to the financial losses linked to Don 3, he said not every production house can afford such setbacks. “They will commit suicide,” Ashoke remarked while discussing the pressure on producers.
According to him, FWICE had invited Ranveer Singh for discussions three times, but the actor allegedly did not respond. Ashoke claimed Ranveer later sent an email after hearing about FWICE’s planned press conference, saying the issue did not fall under the organisation’s jurisdiction.
The FWICE advisor also hinted that there is still room for settlement regarding the reported Rs 45 crore compensation being sought by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment.
The dispute began after Ranveer Singh reportedly exited Don 3 weeks before the shoot schedule despite extensive pre production work and promotional activities already being completed by the makers.
