She’s gonna turn out to be a scammer. Mark my words. Ansh probably had a fling with her as she’s pretty and he fell for her briefly but realised she was just with him for his money. Not that he didn’t mind or care about it but he decided she wasn’t worth his time. She then tells him she’s pregnant with his child. The timeline and probably a DNA test done matches and so he simply decides to keep paying for maintenance.
In a weird way it explains why Ansh would also make such a proposition to Nandini. He had a template in Niyati who at that point was willing to live off of his money with no demands for marriage and content with waiting. Because Karan made that clear too - they never married but had a son.
Karan probably felt sorry for Rio because he’s been in that boat - the one of an illegitimate child - awaiting to be accepted and acknowledged by his father.
The only women he married were Shraddha and Nandini. So my guess is, Shradhha was gullible enough and nice enough to fall for his tricks and truly love him. But she may have been a traditional girl at heart somewhat too who wasn’t willing to take their relationship to the next level without a formal commitment in the form of a marriage, which is why he married her.
Next was Nandini who had not fallen for any tricks so the marriage and then the expectation that you’re an Indian girl raised in an traditional Indian household within the country - now that I am your husband, sleep with me.
I always thought that Ansh loved Shradha, but when she lied to him that she doesnt need him anymore as she got someone better (because she had cancer and she didn't want Ansh to see her in pain), Ansh lost it and started feeling all girls are gold diggers and hence came to Nandani with that approach
However, they destroyed that for Ansh in this season as well. Ansh was always a cheap minded womanizer (I think most in underworld are), Shradha'(if her above cannon is true for this universe) was just someone who stood out to him, maybe because she didn't give herself to him and hence became her obsession (just like Nandani later). He married her to get her and probably played to her whims so he was kind of good to her, Shradha took that as "love", like you know how you treat a doll
I mean to think of it, had Nandani not tore that dress humiliating Ansh and just ignored his advances (plus didn't love Karan or had him even as male BFF), post marriage, he would have been "good" to her in his own twisted sense. We might hate him for the r**e, but the thing is he did that (not justifying the same, just saying) because his lawyer had told that Nandani might use the fact that they never had any physical relation in their marriage as a reason for divorce (though we know Nandani would have never done that). In his own delusions, Ansh was already being good to Nandani by giving her time to move past Karan and not force himself, or by ignoring her adultery (having seen Karan Nandani in a way he mistrued as they were hugging)
