Second reason may be niyati was mentally not stable as doctors mentioned...may be he chose to protect that woman...moreover I think he went thru this act coz Reyansh was Ansh's son and probably karan was feeling guilty of what happened to Ansh though he was evil

Arre to Eklavya was already brought home na, and Nandani was kind of ok with it. So having one more replica of Ansh wouldn't have been a challenge.

And Ansh himself didn't care about Rio, so what reason Karan has caring about him, and Niyati being mentally unstable doesn't stop Karan from telling the family about them with a caveat that meet them as friends/neighbours not family

actually Abhishek being his partner was the most useless track of this show. It added nothing and Abhishek was literal chamcha of Ansh (partner chhodo subordinate bhi nhi tha) so good if they forgot that

If they want to give Shobha a dedicated track they might bring Abhishek and Ansh partnership. But I don't know if the actor who played Abhishek is still acting
