Nothing against Aamir inviting (press?) for a Mehfil as a promotional event for a movie...but why for t h i s movie???
Although there are cultural similarities between Thai culture and Urdu culture (ancient Indian influences because of Sanskrit, shared Buddhist and Hindu mythology and also through maritime trade and migration), I didn't get the feeling that it is about honoring the original movie but simply using the idea of the original movie ("sometimes all it takes is one day to change your whole life").
