Did you know?

- Abhishek Sharma has two of the top five individual scores in the IPL, including the top two by an Indian batter. His four scores of 130+ are the most by a batter in this format. Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch have three apiece.

- Sakib Hussain is yet to concede a six across 12 overs bowled in IPL 2026 - the most overs sent down by a bowler without conceding a six this season.

- RR have bagged 18 wickets in the Powerplay in 7 games this season. That count is two more than their tally in the Powerplay throughout IPL 2025.

What they said:

We just have to give ourselves 2-3 balls to understand how the wicket is going to play, what kind of bounce there's going to be, and we just play our game. We don't think so much. We don't have a plan behind it, but we just look to watch the ball and play our game - Ishan Kishan, SRH stand-in skipper

The way I'm batting an innings is not too far away, but as I've been saying, if I go in tomorrow and I play another game, it's going to be what the team needs. It's not me not scoring runs and taking my time getting 40 off 30. That's not going to happen. I go out there, assess conditions. If they want me to go at 200 from ball one, I will do that - Riyan Parag, RR captain

Stats and trivia

  • SRH have batted first in all seven games this season. They have a 1-2 record in away games.
  • Jofra Archer has a poor head-to-head record against Abhishek Sharma, with one dismissal in seven innings at a batting strike-rate of 177.14. Abhishek has scored 62 runs in 35 balls off Archer but is yet to face Nandre Burger.
  • Heinrich Klaasen is having one of the best seasons ever for a batter outside a top three. Historically, only one batter (David Miller in 2013) has scored more runs than the tally of 320 Klaasen has posted in IPL 2026 after seven games. That's why he is No. 2 on the Orange Cap list, behind only Abhishek.

Welcome to the second fixture in today's double-header Sunday. I'll be amiss to not mention the carnage that is already preceding this game. Punjab Kings have boshed their way to checks notes 116 for 0 from just six overs, chasing double-checks notes 265 in the sweltering Delhi heat. Go over there and catch up while you can. And once you're done, tuck in for the cricketing feast that awaits us in Jaipur: Sooryavanshi vs Cummins (oh yes, he's back). Travishek vs Archer. No. 3 on the points table vs No. 4.

For Rajasthan Royals, this is a return to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium - their designated home, but not quite a familiar fortress in recent seasons, having begun this campaign in Guwahati. Their last outing, though, would have given them immense confidence - defending a modest 160, built on disciplined bowling and the ability to hold their nerve in the crunch moments. So while SRH carry momentum and RR bring belief from a gritty win, both teams are also adjusting - one to conditions away from home, the other to a venue they haven’t played much at in recent times. In a tightly-packed table, this is less about breaking away and more about staying firmly in the mix.

Pat Cummins is back, he will take the field as well as the captain's armband from Ishan Kishan today. You can also dip into a study, by yours truly, on what has made Jofra Archer such a potent bowler in the powerplay for RR. He will be up against his kryptonite tonight though - left-handers, three of them, at the top of the SRH batting order. How will he fare against them?

Is it the first reverse fixture of the season? We are at the exactly half way of the league stage. " - So it is! A significant landmark, splitting the IPL season into half with the first reverse fixture of the season.

Revenge time for RR.
