hey i'm back, i was MIA because of eid and new job making me too tired to do anything after getting home. weekends are also packed with grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, and sometimes going out lol

anyway i'm off today due to easter monday so back to the 50 discussion. It's based on an international show with the same name. 50 contestants living in the same castle/mansion for approximately 25 days and there were a total of 50 episodes.

the mansion has 5 main parts:

a) main castle with living area with bedrooms, bathrooms, living room etc where the players spend most of their day.

b) front yard where they play "lion crazy games" to win money for their fans. One fan at the final episode won 50 lakh for supporting shiv because they bet on shiv early on. i still think this part was a scam

c) arena where they where they play arena games they have to play games in teams (size of team varies in every task). whichever team loses the tasks, either the whole team or the players chosen by the captain go to danger zone (which is a separate part of the mansion).

d) danger zone where nominated players wait during the voting period. The voting happens by the safe players who were sent back to the main castle. everyone votes to save someone from the nomination with a phone provided by the makers. at the end lion comes out and announces who got the least vote and is given an exit order. this is where most of the politics happens because the safe players plan and plot whom to keep and whom to kick out. this discussion amongst the safe players is also shown to the danger zone players to create more drama

e) lion's den where every day a few contestants are chosen by the lion come to and play a game of "dare". if they complete the dare, they win money for fans. it's usually low stakes. only during the last week, 3 players were dared to directly eliminate 6 players as a dare. this was mainly done because there were too many players left in the last few days (over 20).

how it differ from BB: there are no audience vote, only the players and tasks decide who wins and who loses. although sometimes the makers saved and brought people back for no reason there are no daily household tasks like cooking or cleaning, which caused the most fights in big boss. players are provided with food and every other amenities so they can only focus on the games. finally, there is no actual host like salman khan, the lion is just a symbol.

yeah the show got over and shiv being the winner was already known because the episodes were shot well in advance anyway, i'll talk about my thoughts about the winner another time. for now, see my introductory post about the show

Wow, this show sounds non-toxic. No fights over team captains, food etc and no 'big boss' trying to instigate fights

I like the concept of fans winning money. At least here they get something back for supporting the contestants. BB too should start paying fans, at least the ones who vote most often.

I am guessing safe players are decided based on game arena along with the ones to go to danger zone? This part is fair. But I don't like how voting was done, the ones in safe zone or castle would obviously try to eliminate the strong player. how is it fair game then?

At first I had thought this was BB-lite :P but yeah, much different than BB. It created buzz as well so season 2 should work well too.

Hopefully the weather has cleared up on your side and it’s nice and sunny now. Over here, it already feels like summer arrived early. I hope you’ve been able to get some proper rest too, work can really take a lot out of you.

I have been spending my weekends doing work this month, as I have taken up 2 additional projects and I’m also training some of the younger folks on my team alongside my main responsibilities, so it’s been quite full-on.
