When I read about RGV, I always think of his debut as a director (with the Telugu Siva)... like with so many before (and after) him, there mostly is something very special to find in the debut movies (at least to me).
It was after having got to know Company that I searched for his debut movie (like I did with many, many other directors when having come across an interesting movie whose director was new to me).
