Ok so minus the video, the score actually is really good. I guess I was just distracted and disappointed with the visuals and therefore the BG score didn’t quite make an impact on me. But now just listening to this audio, I think it’s pretty darn good.
I don’t watch much bollywood movies these days. But when they make movies based on Indian epics would like to give it a try. I wanted to watch Adipurush but my friends dissuaded me saying it was badly made. Watched Kalki in bits and pieces. So I am cautious about this movie too. The teaser did not impress me much but will wait for the trailer and the dialogues.
That aside, recently I read that they are spending a whopping 4000 crores on making this movie. Even Bahubali did not cost that much to make. I don’t think any Indian movie has costed this much so far. I have a naive question. Will this movie recover the budget and make profit even if it’s released worldwide? Or the budget is just a hype to show that this is the most expensive movie made in India?
Chandni chowk. Oh no. But what do they need to write? Everyone knows the story.

He even was the director of Ikkis, the last movie of Dharmendra which flopped thanks to propaganda especially because it was released post Dhurandhar 1.
They’re writing screenplay - how to stage scenes and all. Also the producer has said they’re using only Valmiki Ramayana as a source for now. But there are various versions of the same and translations so they can claim that they showed Ravan was a jovial man who loved cracking jokes as he made kebabs out of people by reading one of them somewhere. After all, you know he’s supposed to be layered.. whatever that means to these people.

Your friends saved your time, money and a dose of paracetamol. I mean, Ravan, the king of Lanka was shown … gothic for the lack of a better term. They would’ve given him tattoos, piercings and weird makeup if they could’ve but what they did was more than enough to justify the brickbats.
Imagine in a movie about Ram Bhagwan you’re affronted about the depiction of Ravan and Lanka… and that’s your starting point. Need I say more how bad it was?
Kalki was better in terms of execution but also sorta weird… Kamal Hasan is obviously playing Kali Purusha… but he’s just so weird. The unnecessary Karan flex also doesn’t help.
Yeah, they’re claiming the budget is 4000 crores and the teasers so far don’t seem to look like that’s the case. Just read the comments about the bloopers common folks caught in the latest one. If you spent 4000 crores on these movies which means one alone costs 2000 crores, do you make such bloopers and blunders in the teaser?
The casting itself is wrong on so many levels. Ranbir really doesn’t look like Bhagwan Ram as he’s described, Sai definitely has no candle to hold when it comes to Maa Sita.
It’s being speculated as a money laundering scam masquerading itself as a movie for now to a lot of people.

Ikkis was made by Sriram Raghavan. he earlier made badlapur, andha dhun, johnny gaddar.
Ramayana is written by Sridhar Raghavan.

Thanks for your response.
Budget is because of money laundering?😳 How will the producers get away with it if that’s the reason?
Glad I didn’t watch Adipurush then. I cannot take Gothic Ravana🙄 Also I am a purist when it comes to epics, I would appreciate if the makers stick to whats on the text written by Valmiki or Vyasa in case of the Mahabharata. If the current film makers bring their own twist, make changes to suit their narration, I will royally skip.
When I said I watched Kalki in bits and pieces, didn’t agree with director’s vision of Karna. There was too much whitewashing of his character. That’s probably why I lost interest and couldn’t watch it fully. I didn’t understand Kamal Haasan’s character🙄
As for the artists in the current Ramayana movie, Ranbir, have watched only 1 movie of his in full- Rajneeti which I liked. Tried to watch couple of his other movies, couldn’t sit through beyond 1/2 hour and never watched any of his movies again.
I am a South Indian, so am aware of Sai Pallavi. Again watched only couple of movies of her where she was good. I will have to see the trailer or some scenes to see how she has done.
I am familiar with Yash only after KGF, so not sure about his filmography. If Ravana is going to be portrayed differently from what I have read, then I will not be interested.

Bold - they’re overpaying everyone to show the budget. For example, Ranbir is being paid 150 crores, Yash 100 crores and Sunny Deol 40 crores for both of the movies.
I know these are all popular actors and can assure some guaranteed footfall but even they can’t guarantee a return on 4000 crores worth of investment. They will say everyone charged more than they usually do for blah blah reasons.
@red -

That’s Jesus coded Ram and Ravan who’s flying on whatever is the name of a hybrid born by crossing a bat and a dragon probably. Focus on the hairstyle of Ravan.
I couldn’t understand what Kamal Hasan was doing in Kalki tbh nor did I understand what was the need of making it sorta a sci-fi thing. Mixing genres is not always the best choice. Pick a lane and stick with it.
Ranbir can pull off some roles but he doesn’t have it in him to pull off Ram. I think he is a very limited actor in terms of range and his personality doesn’t have that appeal to play any Godly characters. Moreover, he doesn’t even look like Ram Bhagwan is mentioned. Not in terms of his face which always seems very sad to me no matter what and his physique doesn’t match the description we have in Valmiki Ramayana where it’s clearly stated how Ram Bhagwan has a very pleasant face, a strong voice, big eyes and a very pleasant smile. He’s also broad shouldered and tall with the build of a warrior but his disposition is ever so kind and gentle.
Moreover, he just lacks the aura. Worse, PR hyped up how he had quit non-veg, alcohol to play Ram Bhagwan. Ironically, he was exposed on a Netflix show where his family was shown having dinner together and there was a lot of non-veg food on the table. He was seen repeatedly drinking something from a silver glass.
I don’t watch a lot of movies but from what little I saw - Yash may pull off Ravan but I genuinely don’t think Sai can pull off Maa Sita’s role.
