i don't think it was planned recently. They have been giving hints or making premises with sending children to hostel for about a month now.

I know that there were no announcement of them being leads it was only Mihir Tulsi, even on additional caste the discussion was more about Hiten and Shakti reprising their roles over the new caste.. I had not even thought they would bring in them, but then they were leads in their past shows and were suddenly asked to pack up and move here, why would they do that if not being promised a lead (I mean parallel lead or lead for the generation) that's what I thought.

I mean even Karan Nandani weren't announced as lead. Even Hiten's entry was surprise, without any promo or anything which was surprising because Hiten was a star and teen heartthrob back then. Even while Nandani entered the promo was Ansh focussed which him obsessing over Nandani and not a proper Karan Nandani promo. But eventually they were made parallel lead. Karan especially was actually for much the part the sole male lead over even Mihir. And later we got to know that Hiten was always intended by Ekta to be made the central figure.

Lakshya KT on the other hand were promoted as leads (Mouni's face was kept hidden without public exposure to maintain surprise element) but we know how they went and removed at the end. Pulkit especially had his issues with Balaji and left.

So a same framework for Vridang wouldn't have been surpassing but then we can only guess.

I don't think they are making the spin off only to kill time, else I guess Karan Nandani would have been a better choice. They were in US so no need to come up with a reason for them to move, they have a huge fan following and great chemistry (I think still their fans would out number that of Vridang). It seems makers really want to have a show for them.

But seriously 11 PM slot, who will watch that late(reminds me of K Street Pali Hills and Kahin kisi Roz but back then TV was only source of entertainment so people still cared

The factory is in Jamshedpur, the kids are in Ranchi in a boarding school. The distance between the places is 2 hours, they’ll probably be shown shuffling between the two places and travelling to Ranchi for weekends to be with the kids.

Once they solve the factory problem Angad doesn’t need to live as a worker anymore, so if they decide to stay in Jamshedpur they will go to Ranchi only on weekends for the kids. But they may as well show that Vrinda will be a homemaker in Ranchi or start her own physiotherapy clinic there while Angad travels to the factory at least thrice a week to ensure things work smoothly.

@bold - money and the chance to associate with a legacy project. The classical saying Laxmi Maa ghar aaye toh mooh dhone nahi jaate. If you get even a small role in such a huge show it is a big deal and can help your career immensely.

Hiten Nandini entered an already established show hence couldn’t be announced as new leads or anything especially with Smriti very much there as the continuing star. The concept of generation leaps was also very new so people were still getting used to it, but they never presumed new kids could be considered as new leads. KN are considered the leads of Gen 2 of the show, but they were never on the montage. The idea of Gen 2 leads is attributed to them because they are essentially the first pair who started this whole trend and instead of parallel leads, they were labelled as New Gen leads since that was more appropriate considering OG leads played parents to Karan and Saas Sasur to Nandini. Ekta tried to do it again but she was defeated by her own brilliant previous pairs being so incredible that these two were found lacking in comparison. Their characters didn’t have half the drama, struggles as Tulsi Mihir or Karan Nandini did.

Karan Nandini based spinoff could work but the budget was probably the issue. Even as parallel leads they’re worth approximately 2.5 -2.7 lakhs as a package for every shift. Make them both the leads of their own show and this amount easily shoots up by at least 1 lakh more. Leads tend to shoot the most, with each other as well as the rest of the cast too. So if currently say they’re shooting for 2.5 lakhs per shift and shoot just for 2 shifts a week in which all their scenes are canned they’re paid 5 lakhs combined. Make them the main leads for their own show, they charge anywhere between 3-3.5 lakhs as main characters and need to shoot almost daily - at least 1 shift a day for 7 days a week. That’s at least 21 lakhs to these 2 alone for a week, more if they shoot for extra shifts or just charge extra.

Rohit Tanisha combined aren’t charging more than 1 lakh a shift. I read Rohit charges 40K, Tanisha was 30K I believe.

You do the math. SP probably felt that they weren’t willing to spend as much on a stopgap show and thus the obvious choice.

Exactly, nowadays time slot is not even important when apps telecast the show in advance. Only those unable to access apps or technologically challenged are watching on TV and frankly I don’t think they care much about these 2. Another reason why SP went for peanuts budget to start a new show and picked these two. The fact that they would telecast the show before they even announced it tells you all about the thought put into this even though they’ve been talking about the boarding school thing for a while now. This show aired before it was even announced and promoted which is a ridiculously new level of clownery

PS no clue about Jhanak ending. Sumeet probably can juggle two shows ergo. Extra cash never hurts after all

I read last year only, that yhe plan was to continue kyunki saas with angad and vrinda post smriti leaves...

So the show was always in plan!

Yes they didn't handle the spinoff properly Dil Bole Oberoi and Kundali Bhagya were promoted so well for weeks..It could be a last minute thought I agree, but then why the hostel thing has been for so long if they didn't want to bring this element
