Damini is living separately but still not asked for divorce. KN were fighting with each in US but didn't consider divorce. Once they landed in SN got infected by divorce virus. That is why Gautam does not want to return to SN. SN ke baahar rahenge to reconciliation kaa chance to hai

I don’t think they were cast as leads, not when Amar and Smriti were clearly reprising their roles as Mihir Tulsi as was the majority of the OG cast. News media outlets reporting that these two were leads should explain then how is it that Smriti and Amar are the ones in the title track, how is Smriti the highest paid star of not just the show but overall TV industry currently.

Media portals IMO are absolutely stunningly stupid especially when it comes to reporting on the entertainment industry as they’re expected to churn out articles over anything and everything even if it lacks substance. A simple instagram post is supposed to set the internet on fire, a tweet is apparently enough to cause frenzy amongst masses are the sort of headlines we see regularly.

They reported these two are leads but how does that scenario pan out is beyond me when OGs were back, when they’re clearly paid a bomb. These two were allowed to be what Karan and Nandini were to the show post the generation leap the first time around, but they turned out to be exactly what KT and Lakshya were after the second leap - insipid, boring and mediocre. The show gave them a chance by keeping plenty of focus on them for months but they never got the TRPs; it’s only when Mihir Tulsi were made the focus again that the show started climbing up the ladder and eventually topped the charts. Now we have Karan Nandini also back on the show to allow the show to have stronger parallel leads.

The reason for this spinoff is quite obvious and simple to me - SP needs a show to fill the slot, they approached Ekta to make something but also probably do it quick and cheap. Ekta had the idea that she can shoot with the same artists under the same contract with additional budget provided by the channel as it’s gonna be considered a different show in all the aspects that matter while she can also keep the technical crew as well as the writers etc the same too but get paid additional money. This way she gives SP what they want, make more money, remove these two from the show for as long as possible, thus allowing her to focus more on other characters whose storylines clearly have more substance. Ekta knew she had hit the roadblock with them once they got to SN as there was basically nothing left to do with them and they were simply extras who were filling up the screen without adding anything to the story. Even Vrinda’s mom is now not around to show how she’s finally using the opportunity of her daughter being accepted by the Viranis to improve her status. She also couldn’t go for a leap just for their sakes. She had also given them two kids and thus that meant that they can’t even be shown having fertility issues as a subject matter of their track. So what could she do with them?

This way she gets to do something with them and make more money while at it for as long as this show goes on and then they will be back if needed or sent somewhere else again or simply shown happily settling down in Ranchi or Jamshedpur as they prefer it over Mumbai to stay close to their kids who were also suddenly made rowdy ruffians who couldn’t follow their parents instructions.

Tells you this was hastily planned and everyone who is now on this show knew about it only probably once they got on the sets.
