Since 2017, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strictly prohibited national team coaches and support staff from working in the IPL simultaneously due to Conflict of Interest regulations.

Under current rules, an individual cannot hold more than one post at a single point in time, meaning you must choose between the national side and an IPL franchise.

Yeah I thought so. Because our fielding and batting coaches are never seen on IPL fields. That's why I felt inquisitive. Thanks for clarifying.

Though what are your thoughts, is Ruturaj actually a good captain or should Sanju be handed over this responsibility?

Me being biased would tell you except for Mahi, I don’t want to see anyone being the captain smiley36 Neither is there any striking captaincy worth players.

If Faf wasn’t traded, he would have been my numero uno choice.

Personal opinion ? Ritu is a better choice if you want to by temperament. He’s calm & level headed. He’s consistent also. Sanju is more … instinctive kinda player. Matlab he won’t think twice about making some doubtful (not saying if it will work or not) choices.
But in terms of experience, Sanju has lead RR for 4 seasons so he’s been on field more. What I don’t like about Ritu is he sometimes gets influenced by favouritism…

Never heard of him. Google search says he was a former English player. Can't say what his work has been so far.

PS: I have a question... Is the staff of our national team allowed to serve in the IPL?

No they can't

That's why GG joined the Indian team after leaving KKR.

Rutu does Captaincy in domestic leagues and he has done okayish there.

In the Irani Cup too, his team was runners up.

I will rate him higher than Sanju as of now.

Ofcourse... That's right, and I feel Sanju should be given time to adjust himself to this new team and concentrate everything on his batting and keeping (probably). I don't want his attention wavering anywhere other than continuing what he has been doing in the world cup.

PS: I wonder why RR let him go.

See, if Mahi could be kept fit young and ever present in the team forever, I don't think we need anything else. But what CSK is trying to do for the last few years is to find that perfect balance in the team before Mahi can leave everything on their shoulders and rest himself into a position like their mentor or coach or something like that.

Until then, I hope Ruturaj quickly finds the equilibrium to lead this team. Because by far it couldn't be done.

Yep, Ritu or Sanju, whoever it is has to strike that perfect balance and keep the team dynamics strong.

I would have been disappointed with CSK if they gave Captaincy to Sanju.

Bcoz CSK is not like that, buying Captains and Rutu still haven't gotten a chance to prove themselves with a fit team.

He Captained for the 1st time in 2024, and we did well, we came 5th, but our many bowlers were injured and ruled out, and it came so late that they couldn't even bring replacements. Conway was ruled out in the start itself, & it was big dent for us as he did so well for CSK in 2023 with great partnerships with Rutu.

So things just didn't go our way.

& 2025 ke players he bakwas the and khud bechaara ruled out ho gaya tha.

So Rutu needs at least 2 seasons where he has a team who can perform before anything else is thought about.

Rutu will only be captain i think, unless there's some incident like last year.
