She could have shot him on the leg but the thing is she knew her son was too far gone. If he was spared he wouldn’t stop going after Nandini, not because he loved her but because he felt he had owned her. He could do with her as he pleased.
She also knew that her son had Vishal, Shobha’s husband killed to save himself.
Ansh had to die because he wouldn’t have stopped until he had died; he would have recovered post a bullet injury to the leg and with the help of his adoptive father he would have gotten to Nandini one way or another. It would have been impossible to keep her safe forever. Nandini might be either abducted and abused all over again by him repeatedly as a slave… or she would kill herself to stop the ordeal and escape from his clutches.
Ansh wouldn’t stop from even harming his own family to get Nandini. He had proven his selfishness could make him kill an innocent man who happened to be his BIL, the sister who had done him no harm and was nice to him. Yet he didn’t care. He would have tried to get Karan killed too and perhaps succeeded in the attempt as well eventually.
At that moment Tulsi knew she could spare her son and injure him but she would perhaps be signing on the death warrants of god knows how many people in the process. She knew she could deny Vishal, Shobha and Payal the justice they deserved or she could put an end to this madness and stop the demon she had inadvertently created and birthed by killing him to spare Nandini from more torture in the future, likely her life and Karan’s as well as any others that Ansh wouldn’t have hesitated from taking if he was spared and allowed to live.
I read and hear this argument often about how she could have shot Ansh in the leg or arm and let the cops do their job. But I never understand how is it that people don’t seem to grasp that Ansh had already assaulted Nandini once, they were divorced but he still went after her and was literally trying to kidnap her so as to make sure that she didn’t get together with anyone else but him. He even used crude words like he had marked her as his by being in her body and so now she was his until her last breath.
You don’t give monsters like these a second chance. You kill them and that’s exactly what Tulsi did. Tulsi birthed Ansh but in that moment she knew she couldn’t afford to think like his mother but a woman, a woman who has also had a daughter of her own and what she would do if it was Shobha there and not Nandini. If her hands couldn’t tremble to kill the person who dared hurt Shobha so, then they shouldn’t when it came to Nandini too. After all, she’d vowed to love and take care of her like a daughter; she had already failed to protect her once and given her the trauma of a lifetime, she couldn’t fail her again.
