The social media war has started. Today I saw so many posts condemning the “real varat,” “dev darshan,” and the whole grand wedding show-off. People are saying that instead of spending like this, money should be donated to samuhik vivah, and that such extravagance will ruin Marathi families. They’re worried that youngsters will start expecting the same kind of celebrations and put pressure on their families. Lol, I read these exact same comments word-for-word a day or two ago. They started on Insta and eventually hit YouTube, including the bit about the money being better spent on a real wedding or the thing about the rituals.You’re spot on—people are taking this way too seriously. The actors actually seem to be having fun with it, so I’m not sure why everyone feels the need to get so offended
