I agree with every movie in the list...Since you have asked post 2000, so apart from all these beautiful names in the list, i would like to include some of my personal favorites.... underrated may be but I love them .

Qarib Qarib Single: Love, revisited.Middle-aged, bruised by past relationships, and refreshingly honest; reminder that romance doesn’t expire with youth.Love after life has happened; second chances without the burden of perfection.Irrfan Khan and Parvathy were chef kiss.. ❤️❤️❤️

Did you watch the Tamil movie Mani Ratnam's Alaypayuthe, which was made into Saathiya in Hindi?

Talking about Romantic movies, did you watch Gadar? I only watched it recently and found the love story between the leads very romantic...

Cannot believe they are not making the traditional love stories anymore and we have to dig them from decades ago...

Cannot believe they are not making the traditional love stories anymore and we have to dig them from decades ago...

Yeah yeah.... when I first saw Saathiya looong time back, I promptly fell in love with it...Rani and Vivek were my OTP to romance and happiness lol...both were too good...but then one fine day out of curiosity i saw Alaypayuthe....OMG....that movie was magical to the point i could not even explain..so much more raw, real,grounded,fresh ,simpler yet deeper and most importantly I could see both Madhavan and Shalini literally growing up and blooming on screen....I loved it to such an extent that after these years i have seen Alaypayuthe much more than Saathiya...

The crux of the movie worked for me...In both films, ultimately, it’s about how a man and a woman approach marriage differently. For the hero, once they are married, he’s done. Life is perfect, he has a wife at home, no need to do any more work on the relationship. But for the heroine, marriage is when it really begins. Suddenly she is consumed with all the responsibilities of being a wife, and the huge existential question of if this person who she has given everything over to actually cares about her, can actually take care of her. And the resolution is him realizing just how much she still matters to him, that he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her happy. And her giving in and realizing that she loves him and can stop holding back and waiting for proof..

Another movie of similar theme of marital discord but with its own distinctive voice and characters was CHALTE CHALTE...All the behind the scenes controversy aside, I also like that movie...

And about Tara and Sakina in Gadar, yeah I have seen Gadar and leads & their love story along with the beautiful songs was probably the best part of the movie for me....All those shy glances,half smiles , seeing a big man like Tara( sunny deol) becoming a cute love sick puppy before his woman was such a blissful sight...and Sakina was sooo fantastic as a character...You ultimately care for them and root for them to win over every obstacles and be together...and that's why I didn't mind the rest of the movie with its OTTness with loud dialoguebaazi and melodrama... because I was waiting for them to be happily together in the end.

That was so beautifully put...Agree about Alaypayuthe being simply magical...And it also aged so well...I watched it so many times that I memorized the Tamil dialogues from the movie even though I don't know much of Tamil...

I haven't watched Chalte Chalte yet....But I love the Music album of that movie...

Tara Sakina...yes...only their love mattered to me as a viewer..Though I also liked Ashraff Ali a lot and his love for his daughter, though overbearing in the beginning but ultimately his real fatherly love triumphing over his selfish motives seemed like such a natural transformation in a movie that was about love...

I also like the mushy romances like Maine Pyar Kiya, HAKHK , Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahi etc...Now this innocent romance genre seems to have completely disappeared from the Cinema altogether....
