Pakistan have eased past the USA by 32 runs, avenging their defeat at this stage of the competition to the US at the previous World Cup. It was a bit of a damp squib at the end, with Sahibzada Farhan's starring role with the bat propelling Pakistan to 190. He scored 73 off 41, with contributions from Babar Azam and Shadab Khan down the order taking them past what looked to be a par score here.

The way the US opened their innings indicated they would fight this all the way through, but that spirit was asphyxiated out of them by Pakistan's unerringly accurate spinners. Once the field spread out, the US found dispatching the slow bowlers nigh-on impossible, and the asking rate kept shooting up like the Dow Jones on a bullish day. Shadab Khan and Usman Tariq were the pick of the Pakistan spinners with 4-53 in eight overs between them.

Pakistan move to 4 points, maintaining their perfect record ahead of their game against India, and are now top of Group A.

One word — 32 percent tariff

No dramas for Pakistan against the US this time around. Donald will be disappointed. It would have been a YUGE upset after Pakistan put up a more-than-decent score, and their spin-heavy attack defended it comfortably in the end, despite handy knocks from Shayan Jahangir and Shubham Ranjane. Spinners have done the job for Pakistan here in Colombo. They went in with five of them today, replacing Salman Mirza with Usman Tariq, and they came to the party to derail USA's chase.

The USA players are going on a tour of the boundary to salute their supporters after a triumphant first night of floodlit cricket at the SSC.
