The language of these social media fandoms is also sooooo childish and wannabe that one really has to wonder how old they are and where they live that they talk like this.
Seriously all of them going "y'all y'all" about a friggin HINDI TV SHOW?
...it sounds beyond bizarre to read such descriptions while drooling over random Hindi TV shows characters/actors. But I suppose it's a result of homogenization of fandoms globally....now it's all the same kids watching K-dramas, C-dramas, Turkish dramas and ITV dramas and talking about all of them using same slang and terms
. Upar se the desperation to blabber on social media for attention ki kuch bhi vomit out karte raho bina soche samjhe in the name of performative feminism.
Sabse bizarre thing is how ITV shows are literally only being made for TRP regressive audience now without any reflection of modern sentiment in them but inko dekh kaun rahe hain? Yeh Gen Z bacche with their "ya'lls" and "babygurlllll" waali lingo....lol beyond bizarre Twilight Zone stuff.
And yeah the way they luuuuurve to infantilize their favs in the name of fangirling....lol this is the modern world now....apne fav ko 5 year old toddler jaise treat karo jiski har demand sar aakhon par and har galti maaf
Ahh you’re right, this homogenization has flattened discourse. Everything is reacted to using the same five buzzwords, the same infantilizing tone, the same performative outrage and performative feminism. Context, age, power dynamics - sab gaya tel lene. Bas engagement chahiye, likes chahiye, visibility chahiye, toh kuch bhi romanticize kar do.
And what infuriates me and What’s particularly disturbing is how minor-adult relationships are being normalized and aestheticized. Shows like Rimjhim or Seher Hone Ko Hai aren’t even subtle about it , underage girls being married off, stripped of agency, placed in coercive situations and instead of questioning it, fandoms are busy turning every glance into “chemistry” and every scene into “soulmate vibes.” Shipping a 15-year-old actress of Rimjhim with an adult co-actor and calling it cute is not just ignorance, it’s a complete moral disconnect.
ITV has been regressive since so many years, yes but earlier it at least pretended these were social evils or tragic circumstances. The scary pivot is this regression is now being packaged as romance, and fandoms are doing the heavy lifting of sanitizing it. Meanwhile, the actual target TRP audience may still be conservative households, but the loudest online cheerleaders are probably kids parroting global stan slang while defending narratives that actively contradict modern values.
And the infantilization you mentioned is Spot on. Treating grown male leads like helpless toddlers and female leads like “pure babygurlls” erases accountability entirely. Har galti justified, har red flag romanticized, bas favourite hona chahiye.
At this point, it really does feel like a Twilight Zone where regressive storytelling, globalized fandom cringe, and moral amnesia have all collided. Laughing and calling it out is honestly the only sane response left, because engaging with it earnestly just gives it legitimacy it absolutely does not deserve.
