You see, ironically, Mihir was killed onscreen in the first season as not just a newly wed man who was a beloved character by then as a son/brother/husband and an expectant dad for the first time ever. He was also shown dying within 2 weeks of the worst earthquake this country has seen in nearly two centuries.

I am talking about the Kutch earthquake of 2001 which coincided with our Republic Day on 26 January. Mihir was killed in the early weeks of February 2001 onscreen.

The Viranis are a Kutchi family! The language has simply not been spoken onscreen by any of them but Virani is a Kutchi surname.

There were people whose bodies hadn’t even been found in the aftermath of the earthquake when the episode killing Mihir was aired. It was a coincidence because surely Ekta had this planned but the timing was something that would go onto create the kind of reaction that no one anticipated.

Mihir can be killed now but he wouldn’t incite the same kind of reaction and craze as he did back then no matter what.

Also we are told that this company was closed for nearly 2/3 years. So these workers definitely didn’t get paid in that time. Now that they can get work they’re assured they’ll be paid. If they can work double shifts they can get some extra cash they definitely need. Arranging for their food and tea coffee is the least the company can do to compensate for their time. Also it helps their families in some ways too. That’s twice the income at home with the earning member assured of at least one whole meal at work if not both.

The repair and maintenance crew also get the same deal as do the administrative staff.

When you have not had work for 2/3 years and you work as an employee in such places at low level jobs, these are not opportunities that you can afford to miss or complain about either. You likely see this as an answer to your prayers finally being heard.
