Paresh Bhai, here is the clarification and the required modifications we were suggeted earlier.

  • What is the exact difference between Withdrawn and Deleted? ----- Answer---This is the exact literary meaning for these words! ---"Withdrawn" and "deleted" are distinct actions in data, library, and content management. Withdrawing typically means removing an item from active use or visibility while retaining it in the system for record-keeping, whereas deleting is the permanent removal or destruction of the item/ content. ------------------ Our reqirement here is, Deleted. Sometimes, members want to delete the entire FF to rewrite or to remove it from the system. In the present FF section--- Withdrawn is using for Completed, which is not correct. Members want the word --Completed. Wrongly, it was added in FF section instead of Completed.

  • How does each status affect the FanFiction listings on the site? ---

Answer---The status mentioned in an FF title or listing plays a big role in how readers choose what to read!

    Completed
When a member sees Completed in the FF title, it immediately reassures them that the story is finished.
Many readers prefer to read such FFs in one go, without waiting for updates.
It clearly indicates that no new chapters will be added and the story has reached its intended conclusion.

    Ongoing
An Ongoing status tells readers that the story is still in progress.
Readers who enjoy following updates, speculating about the plot, and engaging with the author chapter by chapter often choose these FFs.
However, some readers may hesitate if they prefer finished stories.

    On Hold/ Withdrawn
This status signals that updates are paused for an uncertain period.
While loyal readers may stay hopeful, new readers usually approach such FFs cautiously, knowing that updates may or may not resume.

    Discontinued / Abandoned/ Deleted
This clearly informs readers that the story will not be continued further.
Though the FF may still be appreciated for its concept or writing, many readers choose to skip it to avoid an unfinished narrative. But, if any author opt for this, the readers may not be able to see the FF on FF section. But, the FFEs, authors and the Administrator will be able to see this for 3 days[ earlier it was like this] Status matters because---

    Why Status Matters

    Accurate status labeling helps:

    • Readers manage expectations

    • Authors communicate transparently

    • The forum remain organised and reader-friendly

In short, a clearly mentioned status respects readers’ time and enhances their overall FanFiction experience.smiley1

  • Who has the authority to withdraw or delete a FanFiction? --- The Fanfiction Editors (Koeli, Viswasruti), author of that FF and Administrator Vijay, and Paresh Bhai.

  • If a FanFiction is marked as Deleted, will it still appear anywhere on the website (for example, in listings, search results, or user profiles)? This is a tricky question, difficult to answer.smiley1

In general, once a FanFiction is marked as Deleted, it should not appear anywhere on the website. Here’s how it typically works across different sections:

    • A deleted FF should be removed from all active listings and category indexes.

    • Search results:
It will not show up in search results, since the content is no longer accessible. But, the FF will not be visible under the author’s works or activity lists. Sometimes, FFEs /admins may still see deleted entries for record-keeping.

    • Direct links:
If someone tries to access an old direct link, it usually leads to an error message or a “content not available / deleted” notice. Now here are the required / requested updates for FF section -- Please add these words instead of those present words-- Withdrawn, Pending, Active

    • Add these 3 words-- This is what we want to see there.

    • Completed

    • Ongoing

    • Abandoned/ Deleted

Thank you for the clarification. It will help to plan my next steps for implementhing the required functionality.

Just want to be assured that those authors who have opted for 'Withdrawn' to showcase as completed while the completed feature wasn't availablev when the distinction features will be implented in future?
