So I finally finished watching the movie. It was ok. All praises for Ranveer though. He was Hamza through and through! He acted really well.

Having seen the movie now, I have to say, I’m surprised at the hype for this movie.
So damn weird!

Agreed I felt the same walking out of the theaters...I was a bit perplexed what did I not get no twists or shock elements to be surprised at pretty predictable beats really just maybe the gruesome action and non cgi backdrops got people excited

Watched the film on OTT... Everyone was complaining about desaturated colors which seems to be true.. When I watched, it felt everything has been shot in the evening... smiley36 Now that Netflix has fixed the issue so everything should be fine.. Censoring MC, BC does not breaks my heart, so that's ok.. smiley36

Regarding the movie, I felt Akshay Khanna's role to be overhyped.. The actor was good, but the character has only done aura farming the entire time... Yes the flipperachi dance was good and did its job of bringing the people to theatres.. the end battle worked.. but that's about it... Felt his role was inversely proportional to the hype.. For most part Hamza was easily able to tackle him with ease.. I could not feel any overwhelming sense of awe for that character..

Sanjay Dutt as SP Aslam was my absolute favorite..smiley36 The background music at the time of his entry, his dialogues, his interactions with Jameel everything was sharply written, well presented.. He could have easily killed Dakait, if not for the mandatory reason to insert Hamza just because he is the hero..smiley36

Nyway, Ranveer Singh as Hamza and Gaurav Gera’s characters play Indian assets operating in Pakistan, and both deliver strong, restrained performances. Not once does Aalam reminds of the countless comic characters or innocent Nandu that the actor has previously played... RS as Hamza makes an impact while staying low. The 26/11 clipping sequence stands out as one of the film’s most powerful moments. Hamza has to internalize shock and grief while revealing nothing to his gang or to Iqbal. His soul shatters as he chants Nara-e-Takbir, a moment that demands extreme restraint, even while his mind becomes a battlefield. Same when Iqbal brutally kills the Indian agent, a scene that only gives us a glimpse into the cruelty Captain Saurabh Kalia may have endured. Hamza again stands there - helpless, shaken, unable to say or do anything. Both sequences are deeply suffocating, leaves one numb and choked...

Arjun Rampal as Iqbal, who I guess is playing Ilyas Kashmiri is not at all sexy and thank God for that. He is cruel, brutal and has nothing but a total animosity towards India.. Again his part well played by the actor..

A lot can always be done when it comes to storytelling but it is commendable of Aditya Dhar to have condensed so many disturbing chapters of independent India's history - IC814 hijacking, parliament attack, 26/11, fake currency circulation, into one single movie. I still don't think that it is a masterpiece but given that we have mindlessly consumed a series of stories watching R&AW romancing ISI, this movie is certainly a trend breaker..

The choice of all the other actors too was really well.. Sara Arjun, Naveen Kaushik, Danish, Rakesh Bedi - all stood out in their respective roles.. I could not see how Madhavan performed because in some event he had lied that he had to twirl his lips to get into the shoes of Ajit Doval, so I got overly focused on his lips to see how he speaks.. He obviously did not twirl his lips, his moustache hair was grown more to make his upper lips looks thin.. Unnecessary wasted my time..

To me, it's interesting to get to see so many negative posts, now... the small-screen-effect? (I remember the same when Pathaan had gone OTT...)

You can make out the difference between genuine reviews who found the movie underwhelming Vs the ones who are paid to say negative things and blind haters who are there to spread only blatant hatred because the movie somehow didn't fit into their ideology or doesn't star their favorite or whatever...

The negativity about the movie started way before its release and has never gone away...The interesting thing is how it steered clear of all this negativity and continuing to march past to all the glory....That should be something that needs to be studied..
