Karan had a major presence, Tulsi was visibly more emotionally attached and protective of him, and Karan’s bond with Tulsi was always highlighted. So Gautam felt insecure then and it made sense because the show actually gave us enough moments for that jealousy to feel real.

But in Season 2, Hiten/Karan is hardly even shown properly. He was just present in very few scenes and doesn’t have that kind of impactful role or storyline. So making his whole hurt revolve around Karan again doesn’t feel convincing, because Karan himself isn’t even that central in Season 2 for it to be a strong reason.

That’s why I feel the conflict might be something else entirely. It could be related to property or inheritance, or maybe Tulsi and Mihir getting more emotionally attached to the new generation/adopted kids - which would hurt Gautam a lot more as their biological son. That kind of insecurity feels more relevant in Season 2, because it’s not just about one person, it’s about Gautam feeling sidelined and taken for granted in his own family.

So overall, while I agree Gautam’s jealousy of Karan was valid in Season 1, I strongly don’t think Karan is the main reason behind his bitterness in Season 2. It feels deeper - like emotional neglect, preference, or family dynamics changing in a way that left him feeling less important.

exactly my point. Aside in Season 1, Gautam had many issues with Karan but he was never jealous of him. so him being jealous now when Karan hardly exists makes no sense..

it could be something like you villianized me for everything and Pari is easily forgiven. His anger due to Adopted ones make more sense.

aside if it was only property why wouldn't Karan have the same issue?? I don't think they would have given property to Karan and not given Gautam his share

Gautam didn't like it because she reminded him of Teesha..

The issue didn’t necessarily happen 6 years before even before that. Remember Gautam didn’t show up for anything as Noina also pointed out - no celebrations, weddings.

I know Karan is not a series regular at this point but the bone of contention being his proximity with Tulsi doesn’t require him to be present. It’s a well established fact even per this season. Karan showed up to fight with Mihir for Tulsi, to take her with him to US.

It can also be the fact that Gautam is hurt not because of Karan directly but owing to Parth inheriting the ancestral property as Karan’s son. The house Baa left behind for Tulsi as her last wish. Per her will she gave it to Parth. Parth who is Karan’s son.

Gautam and his wife might have felt like he or their son was owed that as the eldest son of the family and probably the eldest son’s eldest child. But instead Karan’s son got it and maybe they feel Tulsi had something to do with influencing Baa’s decision regarding the matter. That she probably made the diplomatic decision to pick Parth over Karan so that Gautam doesn’t feel as slighted.

We know that Baa always intended for that property to go to Tulsi and Parth was not the successor but rather the messenger/the trustee of sorts aware of her last wishes. But Gautam doesn’t know that as he and his wife, their children have not been in touch with anyone from the family for ages.

Just wrote a reply regarding the property thing. I think if it’s indeed about property then it’s Baa’s home initially willed to Parth but ultimately meant to go to Tulsi.

Per S2 all we know is Tanya exists in this universe too. She’s Parth’s biological mom.

We don’t know anything beyond that about her as far as this season goes.

Gautam had problems with Karan but he was jealous of him as well but it wasn’t random jealousy, it was always triggered by recognition and emotional priority.

He did settle down later once Karan became a huge businessman after leap in S1 but before that there are sooo many moments where his jealousy was obvious:

He supported Abhishek instead of Shobha mainly because Shobha trusted Karan over him. That’s not just anger, that’s hurt ego + jealousy.

He got jealous when Shobha acknowledged Karan as her brother and tied rakhi to him first instead of Gautam - that clearly made him feel replaced.

He got jealous whenever Tulsi–Mihir treated Karan as more responsible than him, when they handed over Power of attoney to Karan and somewhere Gautam always wanted that “eldest son” respect.

Even small things like Baa asking Karan to deliver gifts to Pragya mattered, because in such families those duties are symbols of importance. Gautam’s jealousy wasn’t imaginary at all - it was shown multiple times, and it was always tied to feeling less valued than Karan emotionally.

Teesha was too sweet...her character was too good...EK can think of this track Teesha having twin sister who marries sahil and becomes his third wife in S2 to avenge Virani family for some unknown reason
