But the way Gautam talked to Pari, I don't think Gautam considers her as sister as she is adopted. May be he is not happy to share his parents with his cousins. Had it been Shobha in place of pari, he might not have reacted in the same way
Not sure what’s his issue with Pari but in a twisted way it makes sense.
Gautam is their firstborn, he was supposed to get all the love before he had to share it. He was supposed to have grown up in a huge family surrounded by parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins… instead he grew up in a home filled with nothing but arguments and trauma. The only person he had who could understand him was Karisma, the miracle child born to Aarti and Kiran, thus named as she is.
But Karisma was younger and so the responsibility of protecting her fell onto Gautam. He essentially had no one to care for him. Especially post Aarti and Kiran divorced. The custody of the kids was split.
So imagine his shock when he finds out he has this HUGE family he could have grown up with, so many people to love and care for him… but he was given away to these people who couldn’t even be good parents.
He has to learn to adjust to Tulsi as his mom and Mihir as his dad, he is guarded but eventually thaws. But the lingering trauma is still there. Just as he was getting better with sharing his parents with Shobha and Harsh, getting a grip on his animosity towards Saahil for being such a darling of Tulsi’s… he finds out Karan is his brother and he is definitely not pleased. Surprisingly, he was more emotionally mature and adjusted by the time Ansh turned up. By then he had been happy in his life though as Damini and he had fallen in love with each other. He had made peace with Teesha’s death as well.
I guess he doesn’t like that Pari and her brothers hogged his parents later. Especially since she says that they were alone and had no kids to love.
He knows somewhere that he’s not making sense but feelings aren’t logical. He grew up deeply unhappy, afraid and traumatised as a child despite these very parents. But the Kapadia siblings got to go from one set of loving parents to another despite their loss. They suffered, but they were so young that even their loss is a distant memory to them.
They haven’t known the kind of awful childhood Gautam and to a certain extent Karan had. The difference is Gautam is bitter towards them but Karan isn’t. Gautam feels wronged, Karan feels grateful just to have a place in the family that was denied to him.
