Watched this and i am confused about how the movie was smiley36 Some moments were really emotional and it is after long time i got emotional in movie while on the other some parts were strectched unnecessary especially academy scenes and war scenes that i wanted to run from theatres in boredom. It is Sunny and Varun film all the way. I am surprised how come daljeet took this role when even varun army soldiers have better and impactful roles than daljeet and Ahaan. It is one movie where music is star, Last song with sonu nigam , omg whole theatre had teary eyes while coming out of theatre. Last song made up for every flaw of movie. Wishing if they would have kept screenplay tight with length around 2.5 hours, movie would have been much much better. 2.5/5 , one time watch

Woh mitti ke bete....My review

Border 2 is a Semi-fictional War Drama based on the 1971 Indo-Pak War being fought on multiple fronts. It's a tale of sacrifice, brotherhood, family, bravery & Patriotism. It follows the template of its revered predecessor where the Soldiers personal lives are as much the focus as the actual War.

Varun Dhawan has the best character arc in the film. He gets to play an academy trainee, a husband and a Major and the director is invested in showing this growth and transformation. While he shines in the earlier two roles...as a Major he's sort of a mixed bag. Doing some scenes well and some not too well. He does get his chance to show his range in the pre climax and this is where he delivers.

Diljit is effortless, a complete natural. He lights up the screen everytime he's on it but his screen time is a bit limited. Impactful nonetheless.

Aahan is raw but the effort is visible. It doesn't help that he's been given the weakest role as a Navy Captain which doesn't add to the story.

The supporting cast does well. Mona Singh was the most impactful in her brief role in my opinion.

While everyone gets their time in the sun, make no mistake, this is a Sunny Deol movie Out and Out and he delivers bigtime. The film opens with him, goes to Interval with him and ends with him. Contrary to the trailer, Deol is a lot more subdued in this one compared to the original, for a valid reason, no spoilers, shout out to Paramvir Cheema, but he does get to do Vintage Sunny Deol in a few scenes. The Jurrat one is my favorite, Instant goosebumps. The pain in his and Mona Singh's eyes is visible throughout the film.

The emotional quotient of this film is very high, meant to melt the coldest hearts. Highly unlikely anyone walks away without getting teary eyed. The hand to hand combats are done very well, the VFX/CGI not so much especially the Naval parts which sucks for Ahaan. While the script of Border 2 has been with Nidhi for 10+ years, the film itself was planned and released within a year's time but something of this scale requires atleast 2 years for post production. Another negative is the cinematic liberty taken where the director deviates quite a bit from the historical events. Kler, played by Deol, won 4 important battles in the liberation of Bangladesh but he never fought alongsidd Dhaiya, played by Varun Dhawan as shown in the film. The original was historically very accurate depitcing the Battle of Longewala, where a small battalion of a 100 men did defend a post against a tank regiment of 5000 men. The Srinagar Airbase battle led by Sekhon(Diljit) is accurate though.

But these minor things hardly matter to the general audience. Anurag keeps things tight and interesting, except for a brief period in the 2nd half and manages to touch your heart strings.

Border 2 is not a technical marvel, and it doesn't pretend to be. While some action scenes are brilliantly executed, it's more concerned with showing us the human side of these soldiers. The soldier isn't the only one fighting a battle, so is his family at home and perhaps, just perhaps, a much harder one.

The film will stay with you long after its over. A worthy successor to the Iconic Border and an Ode to our fallen soldiers. If you feel like watching an old school Bollywood human drama with tons of emotion, brilliant music(mitti ke bete ♥️), fiery dialogues and intense action, go for Border 2. Just bring some tissues!!!

But Border doesn't want to educate people but to make them cry, feel patriotic, mourn the deaths... and buy tickets, heil the movie, love Sunny Deol smiley2

Ha ha... one needs empty theatres to fill them with ghost people (they also have to pay, but less then the un-ghosted)... important only that they appear at the boxoffice smiley2
