The characters that the cast played are real life officers who fought in 1971 war from all 3 forces Army Air Force Navy

Sunny's character- Fateh Singh Kaler

Varun's character- Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya

Diljit's character- Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon

Ahan's character- Mahendra Nath Mulla

Navy operations are always unknown or we know little about them because Navy officers are always on oceans. Their achievements & sacrifices too very secretive and little is known. But Ahan's character is a real life well known navy officer Mahendra Nath Mulla. The story of his valour & courage, his ship was hit by pakistani submarines, his ship was to sink and he commands his officers to abandon the ship. He saved his collegues and give his own lifejacket to another young officer and thats the last one he had and that was for him but he gave it away to another officer. He hit the pakistani submarine won the battle on sea and sunk with his ship. He was awarded the Mahavir Chakra Award for his valour & courage. Its the INS Khukri operation. He was married & had a daughter. He was 45 yrs old when he sacrifice his life for motherland and for the sea border. INS Khukri operation happened in the night. Ahan's character is a real life navy officer Mahendra Nath Mulla. Many didn't even know that Navy was involve in 1971 war

We all know about Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon, his valour courage & sacrifice on air. In whole Air Force he is the only one who awarded Paramvir Chakra

They have taken many creative liberties too like someone mention Kaler & Dahiya never fought together in Battle Of Basantar. The academy sequence. The timings of real INS Khukri was fought in the night. But what they shown as a war its true to the events,to the real life officers who fought & sacrifice their lives in 1971 war to protect India from all 3 forces

My grandfather told me 1971 war Pakistan had elite weapons submarines aircrafts & tanks all from USA helping them against India while India was not well equipped and had very few weapons all they did had was bravery courage and unity to fight the war to protect India. People were complaining about it in social media plattform this was one reason.

Bakwas movie... Positives is only sunny Deol IMO. Bad vfx and cringe screenplay. 3.5 hours runtime. Varun is bad--his haryanvi is terrible, Ahan try hard and Diljit okay, action choreography is a big LOL.... I was bored. Better than Gaddar 2 though. Doesn't live upto the legacy of border 1.

Edit: maybe calling bakwas is going too far but I mean it in the moment rnsmiley17

It's no where near original version 1997 which I had said earlier but I was mocked and laughed

Thanks a lot both of you for your writings.

In between I got some written feedbacks from other friends (living in India - families) where the older generation had now watched the movie... those who already lived at the time when this war happened, those who got to love Sunny through his movies already being adults (the same age bracket and older)...

One of their kids (in the 40ies) wrote: "Sequels like Border 2 are more of an emotion for the sheer nostalgia… specially for the ones who have always loved watching Sunny Deol on the big screen - like my Mumma - Papa ! I knew they ain’t gonna miss this one in the theatres!♥️
I am yet to see the film but talking to Mumma on phone and her raving about it mid way cos of Sunny Deol ‘s performance already had me knowing they are enjoying themselves."

The parents won't analyse a movie like other of my friends do...they would just enjoy whatever touches them of what they see 'in the darkness of a theatre'. Would they give many attention to all the numbers thrown around? No, they won't.

I think, this movie was made for them and their kids... for those who already have an attatchement before even going. Basically, movies should get felt, not analysed - that is a forte but also a danger... because emotions can get used, misused, abused. I would not get to know my own feelings while watching this movie, but that doesn't matter as I've no problem to connect to all kind of feelings I get to know - the positive ones and the negative ones as long as I can understand them.
