Interesting how they’re handling Pari’s case here.
Ran stands exposed in front of the family in an instant now and thankfully this time around Noina wasn’t trying to make Hrithik think he was mistaken and Pari played him.
The family instantly believed her, are willing to protect her and stand by her but oh… Pari is now caught in a web of her own making. She can’t even get the satisfaction of beating Ran as her own daughter shows up to remind her that her decisions have consequences that are not limited to her. She can’t let Garu be raised around a man like Ran as a father given his violent tendencies, but she’s scared of getting a divorce from him as well because of not just social stigma but the thought of how this will affect Garima.
Ran is not going to just walk away from her life by signing away his parental rights even if they get divorced. Not because he cares or even loves his daughter, but because she can be used to hurt the Viranis. Law dictates that Pari should be the parent who gets custodial rights since Garu is a girl and Ran is going to be proven in the court as an abusive, drunkard, womaniser for divorce. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t try to fight for her custody or just kidnap her.
Pari has created this mess for herself that she can’t escape from even if she wants because Ran will always be a part of her life even if they are divorced as they have a kid.
It was an interesting parallel today that they had Mihir trying to protect his daughter but Garu ended up involuntarily protecting her dad without even knowing anything or trying. Pari found strength to fight back today against Ran as a daughter, a sister knowing that her parents and siblings were with her… but lost her nerve as a mother to fight back against the man who has wronged her so much, the man who also happens to be the father of her child. Had Pari hit Ran today even once and had Garu seen it, there’s no telling how that would have affected her and traumatised her. How she would’ve reacted.
Strange how Pari understands how her own mother was feeling perhaps to some extent all those years ago. Tulsi was trying to protect Pari but Pari herself made it impossible to protect her, worse she made things difficult for her mom intentionally.
Tulsi braved Mihir’s wrath, Pari’s games and constant jabs at her motherhood with frequent insults and manipulations all so she could protect her daughter from ruining her life but failed despite her best attempts. Because despite everything that Tulsi managed to dig out against Ran, Tulsi didn’t know the one thing that mattered - how to protect her daughter from herself.
Even now she can’t abandon her daughter despite everything because she’s a mother…
Pari has to endure the guilt and shame of knowing that she’s picked the wrong man to father her child, she’s got to suffer through this phase where she’s in a constant mental breakdown mode of how to deal with Ran now despite her family’s support. Her choices are bound to affect her daughter either way… Pari’s supposed to protect her daughter… but she doesn’t know how to do it with Ran as a father. A man she can’t stay with anymore, a man she doesn’t know how to walk away from either at this point.
