Shasha iirc goes insane after his lover is killed in some tragic accident that happens courtesy of his attempt to kill Parvati or Om or someone in the family. The guilt of being inadvertently responsible for her death drives him into an asylum. The rest of his family - mom and siblings just disappeared after that.

UD IMO was never half as bad as those two. He just had an attitude problem. Otherwise he was an actually good but damaged child. The trauma of losing Mukti mellows him down and I think then he marries her lookalike iirc.

The one thing common among all these men was that they were all phenomenal actors who did justice to their parts and made us hate them or pity them, depending on the show and character in question. I found Karanveer to be extremely creepy and frankly terrifying in Saubhagyavati Bhava which he did later as Viraj Dobiyal. If anyone could give a run to Ansh in the worst husband competition ever it was Viraj and the husband from Neha Marda’s show played by Mohit Mallik. I don’t remember the name atm. But he was extremely violent too.

Back then shows weren’t afraid of showing hardcore stuff and if that meant airing scenes that made people uncomfortable then that was intentional. They wanted people to feel those things and spark conversations.

I remember thinking that the two most horrifying scenes of that era were scenes which frankly didn’t even show anything graphic but the implications were so scary.

The first one was in Balika Vadhu. Neha Marda’s character Gehna is married to Basant, a man old enough to be her father. In fact, they do show that his first wife had a series of miscarriages and died while giving birth to his 8/9th child. There’s a legit scene on that show where she confronts him and asks him had his first child survived, wouldn’t it be true that said child would’ve been older than her by a whole year? Then why did he marry her, despite their age difference? He is stunned and shamed into silence.

The scene in question has her limping into the Pooja Room the morning after her wedding. The minimal music as everyone observes her discomfort, the gentle jangling of her bangles and anklets as she moves is frankly nerve wracking when you understand what the scene was about. How it projected her trauma without a single word said.

The next scene was in a promo of all things! Again Colors with Na Aana Iss Des… you see a newborn child wrapped up and then passed around a lot of people and assume that this child is perhaps being taken to an elder for blessings. Then we see there’s a gigantic black pot that has milk almost ready to spill out as it bubbles over the surface when the child reaches the intended person.

The person raises the child above their head with both their hands as a lot of people, all men, dressed in white stand silently when this person’s voice echoes loud and clear - Agle saal chhora. The people repeat the same in unison as you watch that child being thrown into the bubbling pot of milk.

I can’t even imagine anyone having the courage to depict something half as horrific today. Neither actors nor writers today are capable of bringing such issues to screen.

Kasam se this drama came lasttttt when show was shifted to another timing and gurpreet (from Sanjivani og show) replaced Prachi Desai

UD they played around with him after mukti's death too. There was no reason. The actor changed too it was stupid. Kv and shweta tiwari scenes were always fire. Also anurag prem scenes were nice. Fantastic acting by everyone

Iirc prem when he and Mukti slept together ( he had no feelings but pretended to be in love with multi) he bragged about it to sharavan /ksg, somehow that gave an impression that mukti is a loose character girl. One reason she never responded to his love till the wedding drama. So he was indirectly responsible, also sharavan was his bestie he supported him in court that hurt mukti alot. There was a beautiful scene in rain between prem mukti where she says one day you will love someone with all heart - basically Since Mukti got to know his truth, the dialogues were such that a tragedy will happen with the two. So the death wasn't that shocking

The shows today can show us hard-core violence scenes . Problem is today the makers will try to justify a virat dobriyal cause he's handsome and fangirls ship him. The fans today will justify his psychotic behaviour cause of childhood trauma or whatever. That's the difference today.

Its so funny you mentioned balika vadhu cause today I was going through hotstar and going through episode description. Gehna basant initial marriage sequence was horrific. Also sugna, how she had to wear white and couldn't wear any jewellery or bangles, how people used to blame her for husband's death. It was a harsh show

Agreed. Puppy love, college/school love makes some sense, but this kind of relationship between actors who meet each other on sets, and staying together for 20 yrs without any commitment whatsoever is extremely rare.

Aside she saw Karan and Nandani together and then Nandani and Ansh together why would she think the latter is a couple despite knowing the history and not the former despite knowing how much they care. Not even once she thought about them

Savita actually knew Karan loves Nandani and yet decided to have Ansh and Nandani married. they were clearly being partial against Karan and yet had audacity to blame him

Like I said it was insanity. Bet you no one would ask Pari to be cordial with Ran once he’s exposed as an abusive husband even for Garu’s sake.

Tulsi saw what she wanted to see. She saw her son liked Nandini and that was all that mattered to her. Karan had to be allocated to being a friend, just like it had happened with Damini. She was his bhabhi after she married Gautam, and that was that. Karan would get the same line drawn again.

Savita saw Nandini as a bait she was willing to sacrifice to keep Ansh home. After his death, Nandini turned up for his prayer meet as a courtesy to Tulsi but Savita insulted her and asked her to leave SN, to never return.

Then she had the audacity to order Nandini to not even dream about having an abortion because that child belongs to the Viranis and since they already lost Ansh because of her, she will not allow Nandini to deprive them of his child and destroy his legacy.

Akashdeep didn't have that gentleness even if ansh was changed somehow

thankfully for that. People still remember Karan and always wanted Karan and Nandani as end game. that made Ekta all the more sure they need to be separated... Thankfully they are out of SN now

right now when Tulsi and Karan spoke about Mandira it wasn't about Karan but about Mihir like how he was a constant dhokebaaz like once he was forgiven and even the child was accepted as that of family.

she didn't say anything wrong to Karan when he spoke for Tulsi to come with him

thankfully this show went a different path

Frankly, given Indian TV that disgusting and nauseating possibility might have played out too onscreen had these characters been played by a different set of actors back then.

Hiten Gauri were popular; they had the success of Kutumb to make people want them back again onscreen. Then the news broke that not only were they working together again but were in a relationship for real. They got married during the show at the peak of their popularity as Karan Nandini and that got the show to stick to them as a couple regardless of whatever else happened.

They saw the track of their love triangle got a tremendous response and Aakashdeep’s contract was extended. He had formerly been signed onto the show for only 4 months but ended up being on the show for nearly a whole year and after a short break, was back again as his own son Eklavya later too.

They didn’t go down this route because they knew they would lose viewers and because of a key distinction. Gauri managed to escape Pratham’s one and only attempt; Nandini is repeatedly harassed and her luck runs out in Switzerland. Pratham was shown as an arrogant brat but he had his redeeming qualities. For example, he was extremely offended when Gauri misunderstood his genuine affection and friendship for Natasha as him having romantic feelings for her. She then fuelled his cousin Samay’s mind with doubts about their friendship too after Samay and Natasha got engaged. Also he was never a pervert and never was seen lusting after any girl in the show the way Ansh was shown when it came to Nandini almost from the beginning of his arc.

Never saw Koi dil mein hai.

AI can also only do so much. Nothing can replace human emotional intelligence and empathy that is a must for a writer to ensure that the story they pen is able to connect with the masses at large especially when it’s being made for a show/movie.

Look at the reception of the final season of Stranger Things, ChatGPT helped the Duffer brothers write it and the result is unanimous. GOT has officially been replaced as the show with the worst series ending in the recent years smiley36

Figures only Duffers could have given Dumb & Dumber the break they needed.

The OG story writer who had all the brilliant ideas was the ex wife of one of the brothers who apparently cheated on her and got divorced. The writer who gave them the two most well received and acclaimed episodes of the series was ignored when he made suggestions about the finale episodes. Crazily this is all on a documentary released by Netflix within days of the finale airing and the backlash from the fans is insane.

Imagine 3 years, nearly a 400 million dollars budget and you still make crap. Worse, when you have to finally start shooting for the final season, you haven’t even written the final episode yet and don’t know despite 3 years where you wanna end the show though all along you said for over a decade you had a clear vision of where the show ends and how, what happens to each character.

Not a single major character dies despite facing an army of monsters from a different dimension. El’s sacrifice is kept ambiguous because you’re too chicken/greedy to pick one clear ending for her character.

Netflix released that documentary as their revenge on the Duffer brothers for messing up the ending of one of their most popular shows.
