Fortunately, perceptions are individual... switching off a movie after 15 minutes is not even giving the movie a chance (imo)... yet 'to each their own', right?
Chill...It's a movie, not a relationship.
Well, I think, I'm quite chilled (which doesn't hinder me to make certain comments
)
As for "relationships", I've no liv(f)e-experience with 15-min-switch-offs

Thats the difference between watching movies at home Vs in the theatre...If I were watching a movie at home, 15 mnts is usually my attention span too within which I know if the movie is for me or not...I am not wasting anymore of my time if it wasnt able to capture my attention in the first 15-30mnts....I always say if I tried to watched October on OTT, I would've missed it because the mundaneness of the first 15 mnts would've just got me to switch over to another movie....

Saiyaar was a average watch, liked both actors, i am still surprised to see it did that kind of business.
but yes..a clean organic hit with no no agenda ,deshdrohi, deshbhakti issues. just simple movie to spread love i guess
There is an entire generation that hasn't experienced this kind of movie before. For some Gen Z'ers/Alphas this is their DDLJ. That's the reason it worked and clicked. They probably also haven't seen this level of good acting in a romantic movie.
I have seen the movies that have been mentioned and saairya in my opinion is movie that one can easily rewatch as the story and music is spellbinding. Dhundhar the reason I saw it was due to the viral song with Akshay Khanna and yes the movie had intensity and each characters entry with music well thought out but the story wasn’t extraordinary, however, the presentation well packaged. The same with Saairya nothing new either but the music and the story how it was presented was gripping and its happy ending !! Both movies drew in youngsters who mainly watch movie in theaters . !!

I think I gave it fair chance but to be honest what’s cringe for one need not be the same for others right?
And I guess I am in the minority here because obviously the junta loved it that’s why it became a blockbuster. I also get Shaitaan Haiwaan’s reasoning behind it and I see why it worked.
As for me the first fifteen minutes confirmed that this wasn’t going to be my cup of tea hence I quit. Saved myself from wasting more time innit?

So lucky 😭😭
I was in theater and I couldn't even leave
Hey bhagwan, I am having PTSD recalling those moments 😖😖😖
Certain movies, I just watch while doing work (although not Indian ones because of the subtitles). I can relate to those who decide "no, this is nothing I'll like" and stop. To me, it's the other way as I choose Indian movies because I'm curious to watch them - for very different reasons. Saiyaara, I watched because of Ahaan and the Alzheimer topic (I'm one of those who got a bit bored by the female lead mostly acting with the lips a bit open - as if someone had told her to do so). Yet, I wanted to understand the hype and it is mostly on the emotional level - and done quite well.
Another example was Ibrahim's Dharma movie... I watched it with mounting frustration as it had been shoddily made but went through it to see if there had been any redeeming thing in it. The same with The Archies... I really got angry about making t h i s kind of superficial movie for so many newcomers (with just a few scenes a bit more meaningful).

Saiyaara being a hit shows the poor choice and poor taste of those who watched it.
End of discussion.
Mocking someone's taste is both in poor taste and insulting. Aapko pasand nahi aayi film, toh theek hai, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion of the film, but that doesn’t give you the right to belittle everyone who enjoyed it or pass a comment collectively on everyone who has watched it.
