Of course that is logical... like it was done after Covid in abundance by other producers... but with Karan, there are other reasons, too... it's his own state of mind and emotions...He seems to be really messed up.

MNIK initially was only titled "Khan" but then got changed but still with a "K" in the title. Since then, none of his self-directed movies had a K-word...and none of his movies had been clear successes or got the same hype his movies with SRK got. When he offered SRK the role of the dean in SOTY and SRK declined, it had been a clear sign from SRK's side to not push certain boundaries furthermore.

Karan still is part of SRK's 'film-family' but clearly as the elder brotherly dear friend as SRK saw himself since DDLJ. When Karan told on the IIFA stage that he misses to do a film with SRK, latter clearly responded that Karan should, maybe, more concentrate on directing. Although Yash uncle asked SRK before dying to look after Karan (and Dharma), a collaboration with Karan became more and more scarce (I think, Ittefaq in 2017 was the last common production venture and also the last appearance on KWK, SRK's cameo in Brahmastra the last acting and the first Bollywood Housewives episode in 2020 his last appearance in a Dharma production).

The experience with an - allegedly made for the Gen Z - remake of DDLJ should tell Karan that he shouldn't try to make further 'Gen Z' remakes of his former movies. It's like wanting to destroy even t h a t part of his legacy.

Except his type of movies, that cater to NRIs, were most successful in the late 90s/2000s and the genre has changed since then.

I won't speculate about SRK and Kajol... they would do a movie together at a 'finger clicking' provided that both agree with the story and have the same 'weight' in the movie (SRK was n o t happy with Kajol's lesser final screentime in MNIK, didn't find the extension of the Wilhelmina-flood part necessary and had advised Karan against it... he also found the storytelling of Dilwale diluted through some 'humour' and the editing). A movie with SRK and Kajol doesn't need a romantic love story, btw.

As for Karan... my feeling tells me not-so-nice things about his 'hanging out' with the young generation and his allegedly being 'woke' and "open to critiques of his early films". To me, that's not something positive.

It hasn't to be Karan as a director (or even producer) but someone with a story that would fit their maturity and have a valuable thing to tell.

Dilwale had been a good idea on paper - especially with the twist in the first part, but Rohit really messed up with the storytelling - especially with too many diversions and some weird 'humour'.

I don't think that SRK is fixated on action movies but still likes to do action. He just did two after the Pndemic and now King where Suhana not only can show acting but also action... somehow, I feel that King being the third of the full-fledged action movies may also be the most intense one. Pathaan 2 being in some news doesn't mean - to me - that this movie really will happen.
