Is Human Conflict Universal? Proved by US, N Korea, Japan & B Desh?

Why does conflict continue to define our times? Dominating our lives?

Why does humanity seem to relearn the value of peace only after devastation reminds us of its cost?

Recent global developments raise unsettling questions about power, aggression, and the fragile nature of coexistence.

Reports from 4th January 2026 suggest a dramatic escalation in the Venezuela crisis, with the United States allegedly carrying out a major military operation, involving special forces and the detention of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Statements about controlling or monitoring Venezuela’s vast oil reserves have triggered strong international reactions, particularly from global powers like China and Russia. Whether viewed as intervention, enforcement, or domination, the situation has sent shockwaves through global geopolitics.

On another front, tensions in East Asia resurfaced when North Korea launched ballistic missiles into the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan on January 4, 2026. Japan and South Korea condemned the act as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions, once again highlighting how fragile peace remains in the region.

Closer to home, instability in neighbouring Bangladesh has deeply disturbed many, with reports of violence, lynching of Hindus, and the deliberate creation of religious tensions. Such incidents remind us that conflict is not only fought between nations, but also within societies, often targeting the most vulnerable.

Across continents, the pattern feels familiar.....power struggles, ideological clashes, resource control, and the erosion of empathy??!!

So the question remains open for discussion----
Is conflict an unavoidable part of human history, or a failure of collective wisdom?
Can nations and societies learn coexistence without wars, sanctions, or bloodshed forcing the lesson upon us?

There will always be some nations who would want to prove themselves superior to others and unfortunately this will lead to conflicts and wars

The tragedy is that ordinary people on both sides pay the price for power struggles driven by ideology, fear, and the need to dominate rather than to understand. As long as superiority.....whether religious, ethnic, or national, is placed above shared humanity, the cycle of conflict continues. Peace becomes possible only when dignity and security are recognised as mutual, not exclusive, rights.

That idea fits quite well with the situation in Israel and Palestine. When national identity is fused with religious belief, the urge to assert moral, historical, or divine superiority becomes even stronger. In this conflict, both sides draw legitimacy from sacred history, land promised or inherited, and collective memory of suffering.

Over the time, this has turned faith from a source of spiritual meaning into a political weapon, where compromise is seen as betrayal and coexistence as weakness!!

It Seems Unavoidable Part Of Human History Because So Many Wars In The World Between Different Countries

Can nations and societies learn coexistence without wars, sanctions, or bloodshed forcing the lesson upon us?

They Should But The World Leaders Won't Learn To Coexistence Without Wars

Your post reflected the psychological aspect of human nature as an individual and as a society, as well as its national policies.

From the psychological perspective, the innate aggression in human nature that places it within the realm of human emotions and cognition. Humans are not perpetually driven by violence....rather, they are driven by emotional needs and inherent fears, such as the fear of loss, desire for superiority, with an innate desire to prove themselves as world controllers!!

The craving for security and superiority pushes leaders to adopt rigid beliefs or align strongly with groups, reinforcing in-group vs. out-group thinking!! Identity protection, rooted in self-concept and ego, intensifies conflict when beliefs, culture, or status feel threatened.

Disagreement itself is psychologically healthy and inevitable in diverse societies. But, the escalation into violence occurs when emotional regulation, empathy, and reflective thinking fail, allowing impulsive reactions to override rational and self-centred judgment. In this sense, conflict is not proof of human brutality, but evidence of unresolved emotional processing and inadequate psychological coping mechanisms! Unfortunately, in recent times, the world leaders are eager to garner superiority rather than paving the way for peace and prosperity!

I believe conflicts are avoidable if peace is given a chance but today might is right and UN is reduced to a powerless caricature of itself, so guess conflicts will unfold and ravage countries.

Yes, might is right in this world now Vibha! Ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro has entered a plea of not guilty in his first court appearance in New York after being captured in a US military operation. Maduro, who faces drugs and weapons charges, told the judge he is “still the president of Venezuela” and is “not guilty of anything that is mentioned here.” His wife, Cilia Flores, entered the same plea. Inside the federal courtroom: President Donald Trump said the US, which does not recognize Maduro as the country’s legitimate leader!!

Trump warns India once again!! He warns of more tariffs if India does not make him happy!!! What sort of statement it is!! smiley39

“PM Modi wants to make me happy”: India cut Russian oil imports to reduce tariffs," says Trump !!!

Trump’s statements against India go beyond the norms of a healthy diplomatic relationship between nations.

Why India is tiptoeing around Trump on tariff threat, Venezuela attack. U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday (January 4, 2026) asserted that India cut its oil imports from Russia in recent months in an effort to “make him happy”, and to secure the India-U.S. trade deal, even as he threatened more tariffs could “come quickly” if India continues its purchases.

India cuts Russian oil imports by 38% in October 2025, the sharpest fall so far.

His orders to other countries undermine the spirit of mutual respect that should define diplomatic relations between countries.
