Lemme tell u what a genuinely poor opening looks like. A so-called mass action entertainer like Shamshera, carpet-bombed with promotions across all platforms. The lead actor blessing television screens, draping himself in sarees, bowing reverently before a daily-soap character anupamaa, seeking her ashirwad, and even undergoing televised lessons on diaper-changing only for the film to crawl to a humiliating 10 crore opening.That, for the avoidance of all doubt, is the purest definition of a poor opening.

BOI went on and on to claim that the 1st WEEKEND numbers are just NUMBERS. And now they claim that feeding was done only on the 1st day - what about the other 2 days in the weekend? So they were wrong earlier? What was the basis of their claims? If their claim about weekend is wrong (they themselves say so now), how is their claim that 1st day was low credible. And how can anyone with a little logical reasoning use that to support their claims.

I am not sure about our the quality of BOI's data. But one thing is super obvious, they have their favorites and all their data gets twisted and analysed to support their favorites. And some like Ranveer Singh, and Aamir Khan whom they don't like, they try to put down every time. For Rocky and Rani's overseas performance they clearly said it was due to.AliaBhatt's popularity. Really? what about Ranveer's box office record (more consistent even Khan's, except maybe Shahrukh)?

Truth (or at least what appears a logical version to me is), this movie's trailer was not very well appreciated- looked like another mindless violent movie. The opening was strong but the word of mouth / trend was much stronger and drowned all the initial negativity as well as attempts to call the opening as feeding (hence the about turn). And of course a little bit of propaganda helped too.

I love Akshay Khanna - one upon a time, I had a strong crush on him. But despite his great looks (in the beginning of his career), undeniable charm and acting skills, he has never been a bankable star. Viral Insta reels do not define stardom, at all. I hope he gains some stardom from this movie and gets better roles in future, but all this nonsense about viewers paying to watch him is not true. Just like it was not him who was the reason nor he benefitted a lot from Dil Chahta Hai (despite members here claiming that they loved him more tham Aamir and Saif). This is a Ranveer's movie and if it failed, it would have harmed his career. Similarly its success is his, more than anyone else's.
