Arijit is our answer to who after Sonu and I’m just thankful for that because it took decades for Sonu after Rafi. Their voices are honey combined with some otherworldly nectar because honestly, how do they sound so good? They elevate even ordinary songs just with the way they sing them.

I think if Dhurandhar 2 has a collab between Sonu and Arijit I would probably go a bit mad listening to their song because it would be on loop on my phone smiley36

That Eid scene is staying in my head because I don’t remember which movie in recent years caught my eye like that for the chemistry between its leads which is all about glances and smiles.

Ha, I don’t see male gaze at all there, not in the way that it has become infamous. It’s a gaze of love for me; and honestly, we as women are not above being smitten too. Especially when the man in question looks like that - like I don’t know how many actors can carry that hair especially when he rocks it by tying it up like in the Eid scene. Add those smouldering eyes, the broad shoulders; what’s not to swoon over? smiley42smiley42 After all doesn’t that famous ad jingle go - why should boys have all the fun? smiley36

Haha, thanks and sure, take your time and please don’t worry about replying here. Your assignments are always your first priority.

I think I didn't phrase it properly....What I meant was the look of Ranveer in the movie was supposed to be serving the male gaze ( according to what I read....it seems it's the case with all the action movies because they are their main audience)..

@ Bold: Exactly.....smiley43smiley42

Yes in this story it's the girl who is doing all the works...she never tried to hide how helplessly smitten she was by him from the very time she laid her eyes on him...He was supposedly honey trapping her, but we never see him even touching her on his own without her first initiating it...And thank God they didn't make it repulsive by showing us their explicit making out scenes even though they intended to show us they consummated their relationship..Aditya showed us how you can create a scorching chemistry with mere glances and staring and smiles....It's something so refreshingly different....That makes me want to see a full fledged romantic movie directed by him....

About the Sonu and Arijit collab....I say bring it on! I am actually shocked that they didn't do any song together until now...

About the hair care routine....the guy is simply blessed with good genes from both sides of his parents....Did you see his mom and dad? Both of them have such luscious hair....I dont know why some people have all the luck....smiley6

it more old school romance

like 1960s rajesh khanna nad sharmila tagore only with glances smile eyes mostly

i want ranveer singh to do an historical movie again this time romance not warrior like bajirao mastani with two wives, padmavaat others wife etc

may be some kings romantic life or prince intense romance not much war and fights etc just old school romance like 15th century

i do not know many love story of kings but something like salim anarkali will do which has all scope intense love, heart break, going against society norms, parents opposition, class barriers etc

also i want ranveer singh to do a pure warrior role like chandra gupta maurya without much romance all politics, wars etc nandas versus chandra gupta maurya

also i do not want this slb or bollywood directors to do it, they just beautify sets do not write good characters, story etc someone from south like bahubali director or kgf director must do. Because they are better at characterization and giving layers to a person or role with visualization. SLB can only do visuals story not up to mark always

Chandra Gupta Maurya's story need to be told for sure....We will need two heroes for it...Chandra Gupta Maurya and Chanakya....May be Ranveer and Akshaye pair can be repeated yet again....It will be a story like no other....

2 point likhna bhool gaya

1. Dialogues - A1 hain, lambe time tak public ke zehen mein honge

2. Politics: basically documenting agar koi leftist curious ho:

Kandahar hijacking - ilzaam lagaaya gaya hai ki Doval negotiate kar leta agar zyaada time milta toh... aur ek bhi terrorist aazaad nahin karna padta... lekin Indian PM ne pressure mein aake rok diya

Fake currency- Ilzaam hai ki (Congress ke) kisi minister ne farzi note ke equipment ISI ko diye in exchange for money.. aur isliye Pakistan ne bohot saare 500 ke farzi note bhijwa diye (could be interpreted as justifying note bandi)

UP ke gangs - 500 ke note UP ke gangs ke through snuggle hue, specifically wahan ke slaughter houses se (if my memory serves me well). Aur ilzam hai ki unko political protection milta tha...

Parliament attack aftermath - Dikhaya gaya ki ISI bhi expect kar rahi thi backlash from India, par humne koi jawaab nahin diya...

Government change - Portray kiya gaya hai ki current government decisive hai aur mainly usmein will hai ISI ke mansoobon par pani pherne ki.... whereas earlier government was not effective in this regard

Religion / Nation - Islam ke khilaf kuchh bhi nahin hai. Ek dialogue hai jahan Pakistani terrorist bolta hai ki Hindu bade darpok hote hain (could very well be real mein bola hoga.... Pakistan mein toh yeh misconception bhi hai ki most Indians vegetarian hote hain smiley36). Pakistani awam ke baare mein bhi kuchh ghalat nahin hai... Sirf dikhaya hai kaise Pakistani army aur gangster nexus ko use karke Bharat pe attacks hue... Based on all true incidents btw.

Basically yeh kuchh points ko ignore kiya jaye, toh kisi bhi political affiliation ka banda is badhiya movie ko enjoy kar sakta hai smiley20

Disclaimer: meri memory bhot kharab hai, toh take everything with a pinch of salt

Ah, yes, that I can believe.

He does provide the utterly in love male gaze. There’s something completely adorable about it especially when it comes from such macho men smiley36 you realise they can be softies underneath that appearance.

They shockingly go from Grizzly Bear to Teddy Bear territory with that one thing smiley36

@red - yes, we see her being the one to try and sneak a glance the first time they meet.

Chori se mujhko takta hua

Then it’s her decision to move in with him. He never asks her to do that.

Also, we see her being possessive be it when she thinks he was with another girl in the post 26/11 scene and even openly on their wedding day when that photographer asks Hamza to smile since this is his first wedding and she immediately gets angry at him openly instead of being the shy bride smiley36

I love how Aditya depicted their chemistry as this scorching yet slowly simmering flame rather than one of those intensely passionate relationships that fizzle out because it was more about lust than love. Even if one has their fill, the relationship is over because it was never something real to begin with.

His approach was to take the old school route, make your leads look at each other like they’re the only two people in the world with soft smiles, secret glances and ensure they look good together. Play some heavenly song on them and that’s it - you’re done. No need to expose your heroine or show some unnecessary intimate scenes which add nothing to the plot but are for titillation.

I would absolutely love for Dhar to direct some intense romantic drama someday. I think he can pull it off. We miss that now with Yash Chopra gone more than ever. His love stories were complex and the characters weren’t always perfect but my god the songs and the chemistry with the direction makes his movies a treat to watch even now.

I think the collab hasn’t happened because they’re expensive, they’ve both gotta feel this is the right song for us to work together where none seems to overshadow the other. In old movies you could hear a Mukesh and Rafi or Kishore and Rafi or Mukesh and Kishore sing together because there used to be multistarrers and they would intentionally write those kinds of songs. Now when I see a multistarrer, my first thought is apprehension. Good songs are rare nowadays and Jugalbandi type songs are non-existent. I would love for that era to be back.

Hopefully someday these two do that 🤞🏼

@pink - Sigh; I guess this is luck that our ancestors meant of when they said heere moti daan kiye the peechle janam mein.
