Yes, I knew about this story where his friend scammed him, pehle se, I think he said about this in some interview.

It is also the reason why, he gives money so much importance, and no longer makes friends easily, and doesn't want to give people something which can be used against him.

More or less grandparents wala ek sob story toh tha hi....
