But apart from that, everything else is up for change - themes, teams, special achievement siggies etc etc. The BTRC for the month that you sign-up for will be entirely your baby, and your responsibility.

There is no amicable solution at this point. I leave it to Vera and Shibz but honestly nothing can be done at this point and "saving the siggies for next month" doesn't do much since Vera would still have to edit and remake the siggies for the new theme and team that wins.

You decided to take over without even bothering to ask. Vera and Shibz put so much hard work into the results and siggies. They had everything ready and were just giving people an extra few days to finish updating their book lists. You not only took over the results, but made siggies and then posted the results without bothering to consult the actual people who had volunteered to run that month. That's not on them and they did not need to tell you anything. They were doing things based on Riya's request for volunteers. Not based on what had been done in the past.

I don’t think anyone will volunteer here on if their entire effort is just overlooked the way Shibu and Vera’s were this month.smiley18

What was the point of volunteering if the results are to be announced by the moderator of the forum?smiley39

@ Bold: I should have taken over your Khan-tastic Contest and announced the results. My bad. smiley37

As such, it is the volunteer's responsibility to conduct everything related to BTRC and your responsibility to ask the volunteers before doing anything, including posting results. Who cares how it was done before? The fact remains that Riya's ask said "managing BTRC for that month is your responsibility" and since when is results separate from responsibility?

Vera and Shibz asked very respectfully why they weren't consulted. That is 100% their right to ask. And the onus is 100% on you for not only failing to ask but also now claiming that "better coordination should be from all sides". What all sides? They were doing the work for the month that they signed up for. You are the one who stepped in without asking them.

With the same respect, I responded to you, and to Shibani and Vera as well, Shreya. I have never used any bad, objectionable, or hurtful words toward anyone.

When Riya asked for volunteers, she clearly meant support for the work she has been doing in the forum so far. I am sure she would not ask for volunteers for tasks she is not handling, or on someone else’s behalf, because, she is an excellent DT member with an extraordinary talent and innovative ideas. As I mentioned earlier, I have been posting the Results thread till now. If someone else wished to post the Results, a simple message to me would have been more than enough.

I have clarified multiple times that this was simply a misunderstanding from both sides, and I also expressed my concern for the amount of effort they put in.

I believe I have already explained my side clearly, and there is nothing more left for me to add.

I was just thinking the same thing.smiley37

Arey, if someone is volunteering for a contest.. they do it start to finish - Announcement to Results. Why is that to be discussed after a decision is made?!smiley22

Madz the misunderstanding was from your side. Riya's call for volunteers was very clear.

But apart from that, everything else is up for change - themes, teams, special achievement siggies etc etc. The BTRC for the month that you sign-up for will be entirely your baby, and your responsibility.

Thanks ladies smiley9 but the aim was to make it self-sustaining, to give myself a break from organizing every month, and also to allow new ideas to come in when others chip in. It does get a bit much for me to do this every month, and I’d hate for it to stop when I’m not available. I just feel this shouldn’t depend on one person’s availability smiley9

But since you've decided that you weren't in the wrong and that Vera and Shibz were wrong to not tell you, then so be it. I maintain that it's 100% your fault for not talking to them, but apparently nowadays mods are supposed to be "moderators" and it is a member's responsibility to contact mods for everything. I'm still an old school mod who believes in being friends and letting people handle their responsibilities and apologizing when I make a mistake rather than controlling everything and being non-apologetic for my mistakes.

And just to be clear - none of us used any hurtful or objectionable words towards you. As a long-time mod, I'm very careful of the words I use. And I've been through this thread several times and no one has said anything objectionable to you. Vera and Shibz have very clearly been asking (along with others) why they weren't told that you would be posting results given that as the November volunteers the expectation was that they would post it.

You and Shibz made everyone's life easy with your Google sheet and the way you gave captains and readers space and time to make updates. So thank you! smiley27

I fully agree with this!

Vera and Shibani you both did excellent job organizing this month's brtc smiley27

The only thing I am happy about is that fact I didn't have to announce my own name as the MVP in third person smiley37

It was awkward announcing a round of applause for myself lmao 🤣
