Will you consider Thanksgiving as December holidays too ? Or is it confined to Christmas ) Christmas Eve only ? Also will you consider New Year Eve, New Year Day celebrations ?

The theme for this challenge is Christmas, and the December holidays.
Since Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, it does not fall under our December Reading Challenge.

Thank you for the clarification.

What about New Year Eve and New Year ?

What I want to know if you are restricting it to Christmas or can we have any other holiday, is all.

Normally, people celebrate the New Year on January 1st.

However, our theme is focused only on Christmas and December holidays.

@b: Thanks for enlightening me.smiley4!

Pls check the highlighted points. Since you mentioned Winter holidays, New Year comes under winter holidays. Also technically New Year's Eve is on 31st Dec, which is why I had requested for a clarification.

📚Is it mandatory to sign up for the Reading Challenge to do a Christmas Read?

You don’t have to sign up for the Reading Challenge and can only participate in Christmas Read, but do let us know when you sign up. In this case, you will receive only the Christmas Reads Badge.

📚 What do you mean by ‘participation must be evident on the thread’?

Well, we want to see you actively posting your thoughts about the book(s) you are reading. Whether you post chapter-wise (as you read) or a review at the end, followed by quotes, is entirely up to you. You can talk about what appealed to you, post discussion questions about points that intrigued you and share real-life experiences you related to Christmas while reading. You can post a character analysis or points to ponder.

📚Does the Christmas books counts for the reading challenge as well? Or is it separate?

Yes, the Christmas book reads do count for the regular monthly reading challenge, and they will be added to your team’s total as well.

📚what books count as "Christmas" books. Like if I read a mystery and it has 1 chapter set around "Christmas" does that count? Or if it's a book set in winter and snow, does that count? What exactly counts as Christmas and will there be like a separate thread to post a review on the "Christmas" book?

Any book that includes a Christmas theme, chapter, orientation, winter, snow, yearend holidays or is primarily based on Christmas will be counted in the challenge.

📚Can you explain what you mean by Holiday books? Can it be any book related to Winter/December or it has to mention Christmas specifically?

And 200 pages in total or each book?

Holiday books means....books that include any one of the following themes or a combination of those... will be counted. Christmas, Winter, December holidays.

In short: If the book contains any of these themes, it qualifies as a Holiday Book for the challenge.

200 pages in total.

📚 Can you tell me what's the difference between Reading challenge and Christmas read?

The basic difference is, for Reading Challenge, you can read any book/ books, and for Christmas Reads, there is a specific theme, i.e, the Christmas/ December/ Dec holidays/ Dec snow based theme.

📚If I read only one book and based on Christmas theme, does that qualify for monthly reads as well as the theme?

Yes, if that book contains 200+ pages, you'll get both the cute badges!

If you have any questions, ask away on the thread.

So basically, it’s similar to the disability reads we did. At least one character, main or side, should be on the disability spectrum. The quotes can come from anywhere in the book, and we should include an explanation of why that particular book works for the theme, even if the mention is brief.

The December read book can be anything, but should mention December/Christmas/Holiday, right?

Tell me it is! If not, I will have to make any author write one new story at knifepoint smiley13

In the first post, it was clearly mentioned as ---- We’re back with the December 2025 edition of the Book Talk Reading Challenge! Since December brings the spirit of Christmas, our theme for this month is: “Celebration of Christmas.”

📚what books count as "Christmas" books. Like if I read a mystery and it has 1 chapter set around "Christmas" does that count? Or if it's a book set in winter and snow, does that count? Any book that includes a Christmas theme, chapter, orientation, winter, snow, year-end holidays or is primarily based on Christmas will be counted in the challenge.

Our decided theme is strictly Christmas and December holidays, as clearly mentioned earlier. While New Year’s Eve does fall on December 31st, it was not included, and the clarification was already provided.

Since the concept of Winter Holidays can become very broad, the focus was intentionally narrowed to avoid confusion and maintain uniformity.

Therefore, New Year will not be considered for this particular challenge. Maybe for Jan!
Hope this makes the theme clear so we can proceed smoothly.

Telling you repeatedly, yes, yes... it is, December/Christmas/Holiday.

Na... na, no violence please... we are lovers of peace and pace to keep this space friendly. No need to put a knife on an author's neck to write one afresh!!

Please check the first post, I already provided a link for Christmas reads.smiley31
